Just use the car as it was ment to be used if you truly broght it as your dream car then resale value is pointless worring about its sad to see these cars mothballed and parkrd in the corner for fear of losing a fiver because it had some miles on it or a scratch on it if you have the money to buy a car like that you can afford to use it and take the devaluation on the chin

Know how you feel regarding using it. I am the same position with my Audi S3 Bought from new. Didn't want to use it because I'm afraid of putting wear and tear and mileage on it so much so it's only 6000 miles in 5 years.. Madnes I will not use it in the rain. I'm paranoid where I park it on the few occasions I used it. Still sits in my garage like a Queen. While we drive around in a 9 year old VW Up, and it's only an Audi S3. Been looking at 911s as well but cannot go through this again. It will have to be used.
And yes, my wife thinks I'm mad as well

i'm with you on where to park up i allways try to find a spot away from other cars like when visiting ASDA etc and i drive a 2017 Peugeot 3008 wife says why do you park so far away ? but thats me if all the other drivers were like me iv;e allways been the same with all the cars iv;e owned and i'm 77 years old

One trick when buying things like this is to use a credit card for at least a set and quite low amount of money. This then makes the credit card jointly and severally liable for the debt if something goes wrong, so you do then have some means of getting money back.

Having been in a situation where I had paid an overly large deposit for work to be done on a vehicle. I had to go to the former business owner and explain that it wasn't just business it was personal. It was all fixed up in the end.

Don't worry what people think, treat yourself and enjoy. Quick note though, a 911 of any marque is not a super car, nice sports car, super car.... No. Enjoy.

I've got almost exactly the same spec car, I didn't think my car had the sports exhaust because I had no dedicated button, it turns out it was supposed to work of the sport button but my valves had seized

Now as he was sent photos claiming to be the work carried out and it was not they are not protected from fraud and deception and the company directors are liable to prosecution and assets seized as they are from criminal acts. I had a blue one with all the options possible. Great car but not as balanced as the boxster from the same era. Need looking after with regular service and care, tyres cost a bomb as well 😅

I've never had a problem like that, I do the bulk of the work and have trusted specialists for the things I can't to.

Golden rule. Don’t lay out ‘up-front’. Huge disincentive for the dishonest restorer to do any work - he’ll just move on to the next one.

2 years ago I bought a 2006 low mileage 997, and I’ve gone through all the concerns that you mention in this video. Mine was a retirement treat, an ‘if not now when’ moment. Bought mine from a Porsche specialist, and traded my 2008 Boxster. Like you, the fact that it had recently had its engine reworked was reassuring and apart from new front discs and a damaged suspension arm, it hasn’t let me down. My car is a base model with similar extras and I worry every time I leave it somewhere. Thankfully, most of the attention it gets is enthusiastic rather than sinister. At 72 I’m more worried about my IMS than the one in the car.

A few years back, after never having enough disposable cash, I decided it was time to buy myself a really posh guitar to use in my band. £7,000 spent and everything was tickety-boo.. I took it out for it's first gig and it lived up to my expectations and some. During the break, I popped it on the stand and went to get a pint.. I turned around to see the venue owner moving the guitar (still on it's stand), nearly dropping it and leaving it balanced on an uneven surface .. I was horrified even though there was luckily no damage done. I never took the instrument out of my house again..
