I love Timex and Casio/
ОтветитьI love Timex watches but they just don't do a good pilots watch
ОтветитьSo 5 years have passed since this video was released. A lot has changed with Timex! What do you think today about this brand?
ОтветитьMy grandfather wore timex. Was a very practical man. I was gifted his beat up old electric dynabeat watch. Believe that was the first year of dynabeat because I dont see any after 75(?) marked both electric and dynabeat. Anyway.. cleaned it up, put a new battery in it, gave it a shake, aaand it works and holds great time.
ОтветитьI have 7 watches in my collection so far..3 Fossil, 3 Timex and 1 Relic..The Timex are 37mm Expedition Metal Quartz-38mm Expedition North Field Post Mechanical and Waterbury quartz Day Date. I wish they would make the mechanical hand wind 38mm >10mm thick Expedition North Field Post Mechanical in a Day Date with SuperLuminova that would last all night and a Japanese movement. That would be my ultimate Timex! possibly physically impossible but I would buy multiple copies if they made it!
ОтветитьAll of those fasion watch brands together can't touch Timex's market share, like it or not their sub $50 range keeps the company afloat. Do people expect Casio to stop making so many cheap digitals?
I would like them to modernize some of their old hand wound movements for a retro range of watches, but also understand the investment it would take to get production off of the ground.
My last 2 watches have been Timex, a digital work watch for my wife and a Q time chronograph (Daytona homage/rip off) for me. Looks great as I garden. Both came to about £200. So cheap. That’s the only reason I got one too.
I think the marlin is a fantastic looking watch but for a keeper I’d want a better movement and that would make it more expensive, they could try a similar range to seikos pressage line up say £400-500. I don’t think I’d pay want to pay any more for a Timex.
When I was young Timex were a quality brand in my eyes , but they have stood still and been passed by more ambitious watch companies.
My work watch is a timex iron man digital 10 yrs old by now works great
ОтветитьI keep my only Timex watch in a drawer in the opposite end of the house from our bedroom...
ОтветитьI get the frustration with Timex. They're like the smart kid in school who refuses to apply himself. They have potential, but right now they're coasting.
ОтветитьJust sounds like a watch snob, Timex has always been about low price , style and reliability. How would a business model like that make sense if youre putting high end features in a cheap watch........I get it alot of these watch reviewers are used to $1k plus watches so for some reason they expect any watch to be close to that but expecting a Rolls Royce experience from a Civic is kinda silly.
ОтветитьI love to see Timex made a break through for America since the history is here. America auti movement
ОтветитьI like Timex design sense. I just wish they all had applied indices. Their dials are really flat looking which drives me to the competition. I returned a brand new black Waterbury Chrono because of the flat painted dial. The black Midtown chrono with applied indices looks better. Hindsight is 20/20...
ОтветитьTheyre not dominating crap if they dont improve qc and their awful customer service
ОтветитьI also love timex brand it makes buying watches affordable thanks to the brand i hope the quality would still be excellent.
ОтветитьTimex/Citizen/Orient/Casio > Rolex
ОтветитьI use mine to tell the time!!!!! That’s so crazy it just might work
ОтветитьIt’s been 5 years since you released this video, and yet they STILL KEEP MISSING THE DUNK!
ОтветитьWhat about titan
ОтветитьDo you think that they've upped their game in the last 2 years?
ОтветитьWho makes a non Chinese watch that is American made. I want to support American jobs. Anyone?
ОтветитьTeddy: Good at watch reviews. Bad business man.
Ответить5 years onward I do wonder if Timex heard Teddy - because their recent reissues have been absolute 🔥
Ответить5 years down, your microphone and presentation has gotten even better.
ОтветитьWhen I watch watchmaker videos dissembling a vintage Timex, my initial impression is "What a hunk of junk movement!" But then I have to remind myself that the M24/M25 movement was fully mechanical, engineered for low-cost manufacture, and ran relatively accurately FOR YEARS without maintenance, yielding a watch that could be had just about anywhere and owned by anyone. Timex makes inexpensive watches that are attractive. At Timex price points, the customer intent is to purchase a device that keeps accurate time, and looks decent. Those who choose to spend significantly more on a watch are interested in having more like a piece of jewelry that offers the ability to tell time.
ОтветитьWhat I hate about Timex is that in India, they have been bastardised by collaborating with Titan. Titan makes inexpensive watches for the Indian crowd and have decent value for money. But the collaboration has caused Timex to compete with the same price bracket, resulting in losing its brand value. Plus, models like the M79, Marlin Automatic, Waterbury, Expedition, Weekender etc are extremely rare to obtain.
ОтветитьJust bought my first watch
Timex Indiglo
Did you figure it out, Teddy? Tell us please!
ОтветитьI tried really hard to own a Timex. Really, really, really hard! I bought three of the navy blue Expedition Scout 40’s in a row, all of them were substandard and defective. To make things even more disappointing, Timex customer support was equally as bad as their quality assurance. The fourth watch I bought was a Casio.
ОтветитьI love Timex, but they keep dying on me. also, they discontinued my favourite watch of all time. Bastards.
ОтветитьTimex has always been a decent, inexpensive watch that "takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin" - I have one that my mother bought me just before I went in the service - it was a Timex diver, probably cost about 20 bucks back in 1981 - Still have it. Still runs great and looks pretty good for it's age. That watch endured 30+ years in the service and I still wear it from time to time. Timex needs to go back to mechanical movements and put out some automatic movements too. The only issue I've ever had was getting work done on one, but once I found someone to fix one if something happened, I've kept all my watches taken care of.
ОтветитьI love Timex. They are quality to last forever and inexpensive enough to where you can afford many different styles to match whatever you are wearing or how you feel that day.
ОтветитьI saw some gorgeous poeces from timex. The Navi automatic is a great looking field watch and I really dig the Brooks Bro. Collaboration with the Marlin. I think they are headed in a better direction
ОтветитьGood info regards Timex movement made in China / Wonder if all are currently made there? . . :>/
ОтветитьThey don’t hide how much they’re ripping you off when they come out with a new watch for $279, a few months later is 20% off, then less than a year later is on sale for $69
ОтветитьI bought my first Timex this past weekend, and it also happens to be my first automatic. It was the Todd Snyder collaboration “Liquor Store” model. Probably spent more than I wanted to on it instead of waiting for it to go on sale, but I was just drawn to the aesthetics of it. I’m really liking it so far.
ОтветитьMy first watch as a kid was a Timex and the brand has always had a special place in my heart. But honestly looking at them these days, they just look so basic. If you want something new and trendy, Timex probably isn't going to have something with the look you want. And if you want something with retro vibes, Casio has more options and is generally cheaper.
Ответитьmake a new video on timex because you started selling them and if your opinion has changed ?
ОтветитьLove Timex but some of their watches that only have 30m WR rating like you mentioned. They did a great job with a line of NHL teams that weren’t over poppy with color. Very simple design and nice strap. The Expedition with nylon strap is my go to and I want the Command Endeavor but the price has to come down and 100m WR is good enough for me but G-Shock is double the WR and $50 cheaper for Analog/Digital for comparable models. I just can’t find a Analog/Digital watch with a good back light as of now
ОтветитьYou have put on a good point , that Timex does offer very tasteful designs . One of the few brands with a line up which I personally like the majority of it.
ОтветитьWhat you want are more expensive Timex... But they do have that. You mentioned a better Weekender. Well, that what the Expedition line is. They are field watches likw the Weekender, but made with better materials, have different designs, etc. I got two Weekenders and a 90 dollar Expedition, and the difference between them is massive. Even the Nato strap on the Expedition is way better.
ОтветитьWhole heartedly agree with this. I find myself wanting to like Timex and buying one, but the quality simply isn't there. If they increase price and quality by 30%, they would be a powerhouse at the entry level watch segment
ОтветитьNow with the legacy day and date models with smooth bezel the gone take the market over the are amazing.
ОтветитьI wish they have customization option for buyers. Like... let me chose my perfect watch. I want to chose the dial color and style, diferent kinds of hands, option for saphire crystal, bands, indiglo ( my favorite timex function that beats everybody else ) .
ОтветитьTimex should have 100m + Indiglo as standard.
Adding that to their keen style and great collabs should have them dominate the market.
Grateful they brought in options with 12 hour bezels. Hope more makers follow suit.
Timex is the largest part of my collection. Like you said, I wish Timex would just make all their watches 100m as standard. Also think that Indiglo is so underrated as a feature.
Appreciate that they have a reliable quartz movement so you can switch out watches without worry.
what annoy me is that i find a nice timex crhono for 50 euro was wating to get some money to buy it and naw is 100 beter go with a casio price are more stable ,,
ОтветитьSo glad to hear this. My 50 year old Timex I bought as a child still looks and runs great . I wore the ridges off the stem from using it so much so I put rubber gloves on to wind it. I never understood why they weren't taken seriously in the world of horology.
ОтветитьI got a timex waterbury traditional day date, that shit is mad sexy
ОтветитьI like my Weekender. It's probably the most comfortable watch I own. Plus, the Indigo is handy for work travel when I can't always find the light switch in the hotel....🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьI have a harbor side coast. Looks just like a Rolex sub mariner. Good thing it doesn't have indiglow, I hate indiglow! But what I really hate is the inhibition compensation . The quart movement works great, just keeps purposely losing seconds. God I wish they'd stop doing that! Why do they do that? The crystal they use surprised me. Excellent scratch resistance, like sapphire. Takes a liking, keeps on tickn!
