I am in the middle of writing a blog article about the concept of identity through the context of collage; that we are made up of many different aspects, and they don’t all need to fall into one category. That we can have many different sides to us and that it is okay, because that’s how we see ourselves and what we want to entertain in our lives.

you are the true poser if you leave a phase and start nit picking people for who they truly are to what you truly were not , because what does that mean you werent being true to yourself who you really are a person when you see a alt kid emo goth punk and they have been for years , that is there true personality that is what really you are into , the WHOLE POINT is not finding to belong some where its who you are ,

I was alt for basically all of middle school (5-7) and started dressing “normal” around 8th because it made me happier. If anything my alt phase has taught me to love and become friend with anyone! I love my best friend so much, and he’s goth. I love all my alt friends as well!

Ironically, when I was in the worst possible mental state, I was in a hippie phase, listening to preppy music and dressing colourful, and when I was doing the best mentally, I was listening to black metal/goth and dressing much darker.

I'm the polar opposite of alternative/grunge or at least looks wise but still love the style and how accepting it is at times, it's pretty cool and I love how expressive the style it, especially the rebellion type of thought to an extent👍

It really sucks when you gain self esteem and learn to love yourself and you look back on your young alt phase and are happy that you decided to explore yourself and realize that you never were UGLY you were just young and hadn't grown into your own skin yet and as an adult you're more put together and then someone ELSE comments on how fucking ugly they thought you were in emo clothes as a tween.

i'm a metalhead, me and my boyfriend been metalheads for our whole lifes and people think we're either sad, angry or alcoholic, mostly of the time even all of them, for me that's such a fucked up stereotype? Like, he doesn't even drink, I can control the way I drink and we always are happy with each other and we do everything to make each other happy, being alt isn't a phase, and even if it was for someone, I'm hell sure that the person still respects the subcultures, it's so fucking annoying to see people only saying that we are like this.

I had a sweet maths teacher who i bonded with over david bowie but i remember one day my school did non uniform day for charity and i wore my black trench coat and experimented with my alt look. The teacher saw me and spoke to me in private to ask if i was depressed. I explained im ok and then she asked what i listen to, i said heavg metal and she then asked again "are you sure your ok?"

Pretty fucked but i knew it was just coming from a place of care and its just a fun memory cause now looking back i was a bit mentally messy in school. At least now ive settled. My alt look into the punk scene

I've been struggling for years to understand where i fit in, in the alt community. I dress alt but the bands i listen to seem to vary so much.
I like about 3 to 4 goth songs
MCR, a few avenged Sevenfold songs, BVB, Evanescence green day but i also listen to the odd songs from different artists ranther than enough to count as a fan i also listen to other music like twenty one pilots ect. Ive had people call me emo and goth but I just can't seem to find out where i belong, so i just say I'm alternative.

I had an emo phase but it never reflected in how I dressed. I still liked dressing girly and preppy but listening to alt bands. Also I look terrible in dark eyeliner cause I’m so pale so there’s that lol. You can wear anything and be interested in anything.

Nah cuz all the "normal preppy / aesthetic" ppl r meaner than my emo/alt friends. They just try to hide it. (About the same more or less tbh
