Earthship homes are toxic when you use tires which release gases

I like this idea. making 3 walls be tires can be a huge issue with mold and moisture sealing, i really think this is a great blend of heat retention and breathability

This wasn’t built as a home. It was built as a business investment. They want to give someone the feeling of living in an earth ship but without the complications related to it. There are a lot of people who want to experience some of the beauty of living in an earth ship but without the Water limitations or power usage limitations etc. So they connected this to the grid of course. If they were planning to live in this themselves, they would possibly make it off the grid.

So inspiring. My only concern is the use of particle board as roofing/ceiling material. It fails extremely quickly if exposed to any amount of moisture. The roof is earth & grass and I see no water barrier between the two. Of course I may have missed something. Can you please explain? Thanks for sharing!

I think this structure falls more under passive house philosophies than earth ship. It uses the construction methods of an earth ship but doesn't have many of the the hallmarks aside from the 6 principals
