I always saw Pyramid Head as James’ psychological shadow like shadows in the Persona series.
ОтветитьWas gonna say masahiro ito, the top character designer if I’m not wrong mentioned that the first cutscene with pyramid head isn’t simulating grape. It was just general assault
Ответитьand he’s hot
ОтветитьIts sad that in the silent hill 2 remake they really just droped the lust aspect of the game for some reason.
Another reason why the og was better.
But you can pallet stun him, chain blind and loop him for 5 gens. 😂
ОтветитьI actually loved using the great knife on boss fights, eddie, daddy, and pyramid heads, then usually would be the last weapon i used to beat Mary/Maria depending on my ending.
ОтветитьAlso, being a therapist, piramid head is akin to a session in which you face your uncomfortable emotions, these things you don't want to remember/ be aware of, while for me maria can be a distraction and/or suppression of said feeling Wich doesn't let the person advance and only gets them "stuck" or "dull". Nightmares, death and PTSD on an industrial scale apart, !silent hill is the best therapy session you wish you would never have!
ОтветитьI personally find Pyramid Head frightening cause he forced James to do what most of us can find difficult and that's facing ourselves. He shoud've stayed iconic to Silent Hill 2. What a character. Subbed and looking forward to the breakdown on Maria.
Ответитьso pyramid head is basically just really Fucking good at his job ... Respect
ОтветитьPyramid Head simply exists as a tormentor and somewhat like a reminder for our character to be grounded with his reality. When I first came across this game, I used to think that the nightmare world consisted of all the things he hoped to run away from and all the emotions he harbored cannot be processed in one go.
I used to think that it was like he was losing his mind trying to face the emotions as the consequence for his sins while still refusing to admit the reality that he was the one responsible for everything.
Maybe the mechanics of running away from PH reflected our own actions where we run away from the things that are too heavy for us to accept and to deal with.
Anyway, it was a good video to watch. I got reminded of the days we played and tried to understand the concepts. 😂
Emmi’s were too easy to kill
ОтветитьJame's actualization was so hype.
having TWO pyramid heads drop down and approach
"I'm ready."
was such a HARD gratifying line.
make a video on Eddie!
ОтветитьI also disagree, I think Pyramid head does actually have Jame's best interest at heart ultimately. my reasoning for this is that, though he is a manifestation of negative emotions, THE PURPOSE of negative emotions is that they are drivers, Fear drives us to act, Anger/aggression drives us to act, Lust drives to act. These negative sources can have beautiful outcomes. Fear can help you survive and push you to be better. insecurity has pushed people to become great, lust can create new life or even make a man settle down (biologically his hormones calm down in the presence of his child). Anger/aggression can be used to protect the things you care about, it's a driver of defense. Regardless, PH doesn't have to voluntarily push James to have his best interest, his very existence IS what's best for James. That's what negative emotions do, they push you.
ОтветитьLady Demetresque can speak too.
ОтветитьPyramid Head is more like a guide for James rather than an antagonist. He helps James by killing his desire or doubt or whatever negative emotion Maria is meant to represent several times. He breaks down James multiple times to make sure he will have what it takes to keep fighting and freeing himself. I dont see PH as a bad guy at all, more like a twisted guide meant to toughen up James.
And with the latest confirmations about James time in Silent Hill is a constant loop to punish him for what he's done, it kinda raises the question if Silent Hill is even real, or some kind of hellscape different souls finds themselves stuck in.
The Dahaka, from the second Xbox prince of persia game 100% was a pursuer.
Ответитьi want him
ОтветитьMan i wanna get into this game/franchise so bad just donno what game or movie to start with. Watched this to get a better idea of pyramid head bc all i see online is a sexualized image of him but he seems way more scary and dangerous than what people cosplay
ОтветитьPyramid Head kills himself like The Executioner type character that comes out of a safe from nowhere and then wears the safe as a head, in "The Evil Within" game.
ОтветитьHonestly, I always considered pyramid head to kind of be the good guy. His sole purpose is to remind a man who murdered his wife of his guilt. To kill off james delusions and force him to remember what he did, and what he deserves.
The really villain of the story is James, and in turn the entity that is trying to get him to embrace his delusions, Maria.
Konami: "Hey, would you like to play a game where a man gets tortured by physical manifestations of his own guilt and anger?"
Me: "Yes"
I always feel that Pyramid is lonely. He has that helm that keeps his eyes cast down in guilt. He is always dragging heavy weight. He needs a hug. Nemesis scares me, Pyramid doesn't.
ОтветитьMe: feeling guilty after stealing a balloon on free balloon day.
Pyramid Head: "Allow me to introduce myself.."
Tecnically bullets should "hurt" piramidhead ...
You see in the first game there was this dynamic that the less you heal the more sucid*** james was and by words of the creator Pyramid is james monster for punishment so attacking him would be him dening his actions.
His denial at the start and at the end should be in his accions by how the stpry continues and by the way you played.

For me I think Maria is the villain in the story
Making James clouded
While pyramid head is the manifestation of his fears and guilt and it is trying to show him his faults and help him move on by trying to kill the illusion of Maria to show James the truth
That’s my analysis or my way of interpreting it
Lmk what you think!
"He had a wife he loved very much..." Did we play the same game dude? Did the possibility that Pyramid Head being James mirror ever pop up? Pyramid Head is simply a reflection of who James is, the part he hides and doesn't want to face/come to terms with. Spoiler alert: James is bad guy, he f***ing killed his own wife to free himself from a relationship he was not personally benefiting from. He's selfish, and violent underneath it all. He's not meant to be a sympathetic hero or character. He's deeply insecure, but in denial, and Pyramid Head is the only way that James is forced to face who he is and what he's done. So the killing of Maria is foreshadowing of the real ending that James killed his wife. For viewers/players that have not yet played this game and who may be unfamiliar with the story, James is really the bad guy, he is the "monster." In the end, Pyramid Head shows James his internal evil, sexual, and violent side in a very physical way, and he only goes away once James stops lying to himself in his own involvement in the crimes he has committed.
This story is excellent, and the best iteration of the series because it was probably the first time I've ever seen such great storytelling devices in a game that dealt with a very mature concept of horror that most people don't get. He was the first main character in a game that the player/viewer was meant to automatically sympathize with since we're playing as him and seeing through his eyes, so we begin to assume he is the "hero" and a reliable "storyteller." However, he is not, and we slowly find out through these monsters being a plot device for that fact that the real monsters are people, everyday joe people who we may have even mistook for a "nice guy," like James stupid ass. So at that time in gaming, this game was ground breaking with it's use of metaphor and storytelling and plot twists, but it's also a bit of a one trick pony shock moment, much like how the Sixth Sense... Spoiler for those who haven't gotten around to seeing a movie that's been out for 25 years
...ends with "I see dead people," and the viewer comes to realize that Psychologist Dr. Malcolm has been dead the whole time. In other words, James is the real PH, the whole time! That is similar to how PH is used in the game. He's a story telling device "the vehicle" used to help foreshadow the real endings meaning by being a physical metaphor. Really, that's kinda it, besides the whole part about it being a physical representation of his guilt and desire to be punished (but not really, cuz he's a coward and can't take it). It's the "painful" metaphor for slowly coming to terms with a difficult realization about James's self. This game put psychological horror on the map in a real way at the time, because the real horror is finding out we're the monsters.
Something something Haunting Ground something something underrated gem
ОтветитьPyramid head ain't no antagonist, he's James' personal therapist 👍
Ответитьthe actor of james sunderland also stated he was acting as pyramid head
ОтветитьSomeone break down the entire silent hill 2 story to me cause it's so hard to understand
ОтветитьThe first time I saw Pyramid head I thought he was just a red light at the end of the hallway. It was terrifying when I actually realized what it was.
ОтветитьDahaka in Prince of Persia WW
ОтветитьWhat’s PH’s diet and workout routine?
ОтветитьPyramid head is Cloud Strife if he died in the lifestream.
ОтветитьCan I just say I love how you show the differences between the Og and the remake I only played the remake so it’s cool to see
ОтветитьGiving this video a chance despite my first thought being that Pyramid Head is not a villain, he is an antagonist. He is not there to make James look virtuous, he is there to be opposition in James’s story.
Ответитьdark souls 2 erasure when not mentioning pursuer
ОтветитьDarth Sion from Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is another great example of The Pursuer. And he is another extremely rare example of a pursuer who only stops his pursuit when convinced by the player to do so. And a unique aspect of his body composition makes it so that him giving up his anger is what kills him. His anger is literally holding his decomposing, dead body together.
ОтветитьThe Pursuer in DS 2 lmao
ОтветитьI really don’t like the idea of something being invincible. Nothing is indestructible. Could Pyramid head defeat the likes of Madara, Ichigo, Beerus, Scarlet witch, Superman, Ultra Instinct Goku, etc?
ОтветитьI could actually use the great knife decently well in the original, it just had one hell of a windup so you really had to let the enemies come to while you're winding up the swing.
ОтветитьIs the remake actually worth it? I'm not a fan of the changes they made and the developers saying it needed to be changed for a "modern audience."
ОтветитьThe different characters are seemingly represented by certain aspects. Angela is fire, Eddie is cold and James is water. Everywhere he goes in the game there are puddles, rain, fog, broken water pipes and flooded areas. And the worst ending is the in water ending. He's drowning in his guilt.
ОтветитьThe detail i find most interesting about his design is the use of the pyramid. Wild take i know, but in most interpretations, I've read the heavy pyramid being a visual representation of James' shame and guilt. But more than that, the pyramid resembles some of the helmets worn at the time of the inquisition, this stylistic choice seen again in Bloodborne worn by Alfred. The Pyramid Head is more than an executioner, but an agent of guilt meant to draw out a confession. The symbolism goes further when James sees him on the other side of the closet door, the leuvers resembling a confession booth. Pyramid Head does not try to attack James but waits patiently for admission of guilt. It is only after James responds with a gun that the Pyramid starts to use other methods to draw it out, much how inquisitors employeed torture and psychological stress on their victims to force a confession.
ОтветитьPyramid Head=Accountability
