You guys should avoid consolidating the clip. Consolidating applies normalization to the audio file. If you check the clip fader (not the track fader) before consolidation it sits at 0,00dB. After consolidation Ableton usually applies some gain/gain reduction to the clip fader in order to push it/duck it to play at the original level. This can result in pops or clicks due to digital clipping by aliasing and other more technical stuff that I won't go into detail here for the sake of your mental sanity.

So, how do you deal with this, you may ask?

Simple.

Just Drag the clip to an empty audio track. Freeze the track then flatten. The file then goes to the processed folder but instead of the Consolidate sub folder it will be on the Freeze one. Do the renaming and you're good to go.

One more thing though.

No need to worry with warp being turned on or off with this method since what you'll get is a carbon copy of what you're hearing before flattening the track so, as long as you're happy with the results, keeping warp on to keep things in time might actually be a good idea and save you from having to manually warp stuff in the future.

Cool video Mr GARDNSOUND, you got yourself a new subscription ;)

Do my clips need to be loud when I put it in the DAW, or can I increase the volume when I'm sorting them out in the DAW?

Right clicking on the sample and selecting "show in explorer" speeds up finding the samples too :)

Dude, if you are releasing sample packs regularly, you should consider creating a automation template in Ableton, which is pretty easy and will save you a ton of time later on. You can automate most of the steps you did in this video.

Google “how to rename multiple files on Mac”. You can speed up the naming part.

when I consolidate the files become .aif files, is there a setting I can change to make them consolidate to .wav files?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but consolidating the samples decreases the quality and can create unpleasant click sounds. I'd rather bounce the samples via cmd + shift + r. Also unwarping after consolidating won't actually change the samples.

Been recording loads of heavy bass samples for myself to use later, and this is a much more organized, and even faster.. method of doing this. So thank you! :P

Also what kind of bird do you have? Looks very pretty :p

Hey man, great tute. Just wondering why you unwarped the clips after you consolidated them. I forgot this part before I renamed 1000+ samples, and don't wanna have to start over. Is it necessary to do this step, or what happens if I don't?
