Thank you very much for video. May I ask if I can I have following config:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
MOBO: GIGABYTE X570 AORUS PRO
PCIEX16: GPU for PCIeX16 3.0
PCIEX8: GPU for PCIeX16 3.0
PCIEX4: SATA card for PCIeX4
PCIEX1_1: NIC for PCIeX1
PCIEX1_2: NIC for PCIeX1

Will this work on Ryzen 5 3600? Because somewhere I've seen that it has 20 lanes one one page and 16 + 4 + 4 on another. Thank you

Thank you very much.

The AMD-Site says X470/X370 supports PCIe Gen 3.0, Your diagram says 8xPCI G2.
I'm confused between 8xPCIe G4, 8xPCIe G2, PCIe 4.0>3.0>2.0. What's what?

will the overclocked 3600 run smoothly on MSI X370 SLI Plus? bcs I can't seem any tech tuber testing a ryzen 3000 series using this board and I don't plan to change my mobo anyway or anytime soon.

though i've read somewhere that the latest article that they are now compatible and I also happened to always update my bios version, almost all of my country's vendor says that X370 still not supports the Ryzen 3000. I don't know anymore if i got the wrong info or if the vendor hasn't really trying hard to update their info (or perhaps it's their tricks to have their X470/X570 getting sold?)

I really want to watch this video to be informed, but the way this guy talks bothers the living hell out of me. Lol He mumbles, he speaks quickly, and he sounds like he was forced to make this video instead of it being something that he wanted to do.

Bit off topic... Despite the fact it must get painfully old answering some of these "decision" questions... X470 Crosshair VII Hero (no-wifi - don't care) VS Prime X570 at the SAME price. Which? Prime X570-P is a completely baron yet has the same VRM as Maximus 11 Hero. Your time and consideration is appreciated.

basically at this point, if you own a decent x370 or x470 is useless to spend 300$ on a new board. since most the processing is done on the CPU die not on the chipset. Hardware has always been far more advanced than software that can even utilize the hardware.
but you always have Insane people that will throw away a perfectly fine board just to get 7-10 more FPS

Seems the only manufacture that has PCIe 4 active on their are x470 and B450 is ASUS , Quoted from toms hardware : " The biggest surprise is that there is better PCIe 4.0 support on Asus' B450 motherboards than on the higher end X470 offerings. The flagship ROG Crosshair VII Hero, can't run the first PCIe x16 slot at PCIe 4.0 speeds, while the TUF B450M-Plus Gaming, supports PCIe 4.0 speeds on both the PCIe x16 and the M.2 slots. Out of the entire X470 stack, only the ROG Strix X470-F Gaming and the Prime X470-Pro are able run a PCIe 4.0 graphics card at x8 speed and PCIe 4.0 SSD at x4 speed. With the exception of the models from the ROG Strix line, the majority of Asus' B450 motherboards can do x16 and x4."

What's the hole spacing for the X570 chipset? for people that might want to mount a northbridge waterblock onto it, or perhaps an alternative passive heatsink. It's easy to drill some holes into a low profile copper fin cooler like the StarTech FAN7751U 1U Low Profile 70mm Socket 775 CPU Cooler. I bet it wouldn't need a fan with that.

If you need 2+ full speed pcie 3.0 nvme drives + solid vrm then buy a cheapie x570 board. If your storage need are 2+ pcie 4.0 drives you are SOL.

Okay so you dont really need x570 unless you want PCIe lane 4.0s but will you need the x570 for the higher voltage. I know the 3000 series will run on x470 and b450 boards but wont they get super hot? The old chipset ran like 5 voltage and the new one 11 or so and all the x570s have either huge heat syncs or active cooling on them. So i guess my question is if you pop an ryzen 9 3900x in a x470 board is gunna get so hot it kills the board?

I dont think we going to be seeing any gpus that need 16 pce 4.0 lanes, I think we should have had 8 lanes for gpu slot, and rest for chipset, non dedicated to nvme and only 8 for gpu, how awesome would that be. Also I would deffo prefer a beefy passive heatsink than a fan on my chipset. It just looks so ridiculous that extra lanes are sent to the gpu it will never use, and you have all that stuff on the chipset sharing 4 lanes.

In the Zeppelin die AMD had a flexible io system that was able to be marked by the motherboard maker as Infinity fabric or a PCIe nexus or Sata. A Zepelin die has two of these Flexible io structures in them so you could have two Infinity Fabric links or 32 PCIe lanes or 32 Sata lanes (the io block can only address a maximum of 8 devices so the actual limit for sata in 16 sata devices).

If this remains true for the new IO die, then the X570 chipset has four flexible io links in it. Two that would go the compute dies and two that would become PCIe for the system as the Ryzen io die. This means the x570 chipset is carrying the bulk of 64 PCIe lanes. That's probably going to make it expensive.

I am curious how much load the newer Ryzen processors put on the older x470 and b450 chipsets. If the load is significantly higher, will the older motherboards provide adequate heatsinks/cooling?

Great video topic, but I couldn't watching till the end. If you speak slightly slower and improve your diction you'll be easier to understand. Right now you eat the words and merge them together in a way that becomes annoying to listen without actually having to focus on what you're saying. You can reach a wider audience just by improving diction, should be an easy win for you (I mean, politicians can do it and they are bottom feeders).

Thank you , I really enjoy the work you put into your content. So in essence, if making a 'cheap' NAS or 'Plex' media device a 'budget' X370 or X470 would be sufficient to have a bunch of slow spinning rust or cheap SSDs in RAID to store all the data? That said if you really want high speed memory storage you'd go the X570 route but be limited in the number of high speed drives you could RAID?

I had a MB waaaay back that had a fan and the bearings started failing so I stuck a passive heatsink on it and it worked fine. I believe it was the Abit NF7-S. The chipset wasn't under the vid card so no prob with the heatsink then. I think I'd try to get a backup fan for any X570 boards.

A little bird tells me there's also an X590 chipset on the way.
Don't confuse that with ?99 chipsets, for ThreaDripper....
One feature of the X590 (that we know of) is support for many more PCIe lanes.
..........................
Quite what you'd do with that, I don't know...
It SOUNDS like something you'd maybe want for a server. Like, I want a Ryzen R9 3950X with 16 cores, and I want to have 3x PCIe cards in it, each with 8x M.2 drives, and I will be running about 600 virtual-machines each one of which is handling a web page, and I have 4x 1TB/sec network connections... I'm not on the cloud, I AM the cloud. But I don't want to get all professional and big money, so I'm not going to buy EPYICs and a cabinet for them....
If you step back to home enthusiasts and video content creators, I still don't quite see the point.
The way it looks to me, the sort of people who might be even slightly interested in this, should be getting out their cheque-books for an EPYC. That level of high speed connection to fast drives, there's really not much you could want that for, except being part of the cloud infra-structure....

If you were running a web page / site, like (say) NetRider, but for 3,ooo members of the dept social insecurity, and they all had to access a single database of 8 million social security claimants, all at the same time, for 8 hours a day... that'd be bloody brilliant. Thing is, AMD would be cutting their own throat by delivering those, because you want fkcurs like the dept of social insecurity to buy EPYCs. That's the kind of job you build big rack-mounted servers for....
Proof readers are werth their wait in gold.
