The RTX 40-series SUPER GPUs will improve performance. I show what you can expect. After being away for the last few months on business, it's nice to be home for the Holidays. Looking forward to a more normal 2024. Wishing a Happy Holidays for everyone!

Supers look fine on paper, but not enough for me to change my 3080 10gb.
What most of us want though, it's that 8gb would go from now to 200-250usd cards, 12gb to 300-400gb cards, and starting from 450$-500$ would be great to have 16gb minimum.

Honestly? I catch myself thinking that this is deja'vu, because when a new line of cards comes out, there will be exactly the same indignation and whining about the small amount of memory, bad RTX/FSR/DLSS or whatever, weak GPU. Just recently we were all whining about mining and high prices, now prices are high even without mining. You just need to buy it and use it without worrying, because something will always come out faster and better in terms of performance.

ingenious? only idiots who know nothing about money, value and what its worth will part with over a grand on a bunch of silicon that can be had or very close to it in past generations and lower models. Sure if you've got peanuts for brains and money to burn then have at it, but from my expreince people with money dont lose it on such stupid pricing and awfull value, thats why they have money.

Yeah, I don't believe this whole price cut thing either. Why would NVIDIA price the SUPER versions lower than the non-SUPER version? Especially with the 4090 costing over $2,000 due to the high demand.

Even if the 4080 SUPER would come at $1,199 it'd still sell because people will not want to spend over $2K for a 4090.

NVIDIA will simply fill the price gaps between the RTX 4070 and 4080 / 4090 GPUs. The prices of existing GPUs will probably not change at all, because there is enough room between RTX 4070Ti and RTX 4080 for instance. This is why we won't get a RTX 4060 Super, because the price gap between RTX 4060Ti and RTX 4070 is soo small and is already occupied by the 16GB Version of the RTX 4060Ti. NVIDIA does not care about price drops or value, because people buy their GPUs anyway.

Bought a 4070 and it’s just about to arrive. After consideration I was just going to keep that card a build a more powerful primary pc and complete the older one with other components. But I’m also wanting to get into AI stuff so I want to return it just to get the 4070 ti super just for the 16GB vram and a potential 4K gaming experience. Depending on price.

That sucks the 4080 super doesn't add additional 4gb of Vram. Such a great selling "Upgrade"point again NVIDIA missed the boat for gouging purposes! Why would you not make a 20GB version even if you had to make it on a A102 die it would make itself unique and more would buy i know i was going to but 16gb unless the price is reduced ill just wait till next year!

Right. The price is still a problem to most people, even to those of us willing to use extra money for our GPU purchase. This is my first time skipping a generation in 15 years, all due to the asinine pricing.

I got the 3080 at release with 740€. Sold it last summer for 500€, and got a used Gigabyte 3080 Ti Eagle with 600€ instead (og price 1700€ 2 years earlier). Still had 2 years of warranty left with the registration at Gigabyte website. Ordered the EC360 Gold (14,5W/mK) thermal pad set for it with 31€, and got the memory temps down from 110°C to around 83°C (core temp max 67°C in stress testing). This GPU will run well, and cool, for at least 5-6 years to come, and will hold some value in the second-hand market for another couple of years. That said, the 40 series is nothing but a skip gen for me personally, unless I can get a 4080 at around 600-700€ used in 2024. Then again, we'll get the 50 series out at some point between late 2024 and mid 2025, so the 40 series is an easy skip, unless the 50 series continues the stupidly high pricing. Then I'll just buy a used 4080 or 4080 Super, and won't give any of my money to Nvidia. Might as well buy all my future GPUs from the second-hand market, since the msrp is getting way too high for what these GPUs offer.

My gtx 1080 is broken, crashing everywhere without msi afterburner dropping mhz and setting manual fans, so I need a new gpu which suck with this prices, I usually buy gpu thst can last 5-6 years, and my tv is 4k... rt is not mandatory in fact i consider it gimmick, an useless feature we can live without and definitely we arent ready for it. Im gonna wait the super card to come out and value if going to a 7900xtx, possibly hoping to undervolt it to make it use way less power. Hopefully (yesss suuureee, I dont either believe it myself) prices will drop.

If the 4080s stays at 1200$ it will stay on shelves. 5% increase in performance will not move these cards. Especially with the 4070tis getting 16gb of vram. 4080s are the worst selling 80 series of all time because of there price gouging and it will repeat if this price is not corrected.

the regular 4070 super not getting 16gb vram is still criminal on Nvidia's part
just why the hell not ? so the can save pennies on the dollar, well screw you nvidia

if the prices don't lower it's gonna bite them in the ass.

i'll go with AMD or intel on principle. Nivida is trying to bend every gamer over and rail em like a 5 dollar whore. if they can's display that we are at least semi human in their mindscape , then i wil not be putting an nivida product in my next build I'm saving for.

If the scalper mentality has taught us (and Nvidia) anything, it is that people WILL pay over the odds, just to get a GPU, this is why cards like the 4080 and 4090 are as expensive as they are, Nvidia KNOWS that people will buy at way more than the MSRP and they have capitalised on this… we have done it to ourselves, therefore I personally think that Nvidia are going to double down on inflated prices… because they can.

Do not expect anything less for a company that is in the business of making profits for themselves and their shareholders.

We did it to ourselves guys, this is why GPU pricing will never be the same again.

Not sure I agree with your argument with the pricing of the 4080 Super but I do understand the logic.

The 4080 has sold extremely poorly at $1199. While the 4090 price has shot up - I doubt many of the sorts of people who would want a 4090 would settle for a 4080 Super instead of spending the extra cash. (I'm looking for one to replace my 2080 Ti , but previously the price of the 4080 being close to the 4090 would have sent me to the latter).

They wont beat the 7900xtx in raster by enougn to justify original msrp even if they use 24gbps gddr6x as well as an overclock on ad103. (notwithstanding amd could maybe drop the 7900xtx and have it tempt 4070 Ti Super buyers at around $849). So I reckon this can be at most $100 more than the 7900xtx street prices , i.e $1049 at most.

Nvidia launched their Supers for Turing to respond to the 5700/xt which destroyed the 2060/70 in performance and value. The 2080 Super kept the same price point as the 2080 - the 2080 was clearly faster than anyhing Radeon had at the time. This isn't the case this time around...

The 4080super at the same price will be even more of a joke than the original 4080 imo. No increase in value a year later, it will fail massively. Why would people that didn't like the price originally be anymore impressed by a very minor improvement for the same ridiculous price 😂 that would just make no sense and will review horribly once again, who cares if it now beats another horribly priced card by a few percent? I'm more interested in the 4070ti super but only if it came down to $700. Which it won't , this generation is a big fail and still not interesting
