As someone who did buy Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy, and the headaches that it caused (especially being a Mac User), I totally agree with all stated. It caused numerous login and filing problems and I would have saved hours had I just purchased MS365 directly through Microsoft (lesson learned).

Except Microsoft has 0 support and Godaddy's support is very good. Also, if you are registered with Godaddy having everything under 1 umbrella makes life easier. I would say that unless you specifically need something the 365 through Godaddy doesn't support, and if they are your registrar, I would definitely go with them.

amen amen, I am in 365 hell as I type. About 3 months ago my office 365 desktop stopped working , my one drive stopped syncing. Sure my laptop is a few years old. But there was no reason to just stop working. Basically I could no longger open word or excel on my laptop without getting message that I needed to activate the office.
phoned Go Useless Daddy and no help at all . I uninstalled and reinstalled the app from godaddy site , . fiddled and fiddled around and got it to take my credential. And stop staying i Needed to Activate Worked for approx 2 weeks before bingo today stopped working and back to original error.
I have to use the cloud version of excel, word and manually sync my files to one drive. funny enough or a coincidence, but noticed about three months ago that they were giving me a "reminder" that my subscription would expire on 16 October 2023 , yes in June and July I am getting messages reminding to renew 5 months early. Call me suspicious if you like.
I have 3 months left on an annual GoDaddy subscription, and I am making plans to get the hell out of dodge.
The problem I have been told is I have to to copy my emails to a PST file and import when I move. As Godaddy wont allow me to transfer. And the same with my documents and files.
Thank god I have a dropbox account as that is where things are being moved to at the moment.
So small business don't even bother with go daddy, sure buy domains from them but don't DO NOT put your office tools in their hands they are crap at supporting anything beyond an email account.

Thanks for a great and eye-opening post. Wow.

I'm in the US and have used GoDaddy for years for our small family business. We have three POP3 email addresses that we access via Outlook desktop. I (owner) use all three and our daughter uses two of them. Even though we're constantly being prompted to switch to Exchange, we've always set it up as POP3 because the messages download to our desktop Outlook and anything another user does with what's in their mailbox, it doesn't affect what I'm doing. For example, some tax agencies (and others) require a different email address for different accounts, so I'll use the "info" one as a secondary address. When we replaced 2 computers I didn't realize one had automatically set up as Exchange (via GoDaddy) and when she deleted the tax notifications (because they have nothing to do with her) they were {{{poof!!!}}} gone from my email as well. With POP3 they remain in my in-box but not in hers.

But since being forced to use Exchange there's nothing but headaches. We're back to not being able to delete (or move) any messages because they are synched to the other users. It's also behaving so frustratingly in ways we do NOT want. It seems it's something new every day, and there seems to be no way to get around it other than just ride it out. It's been giving me the saved reminders on the "info" account (which my daughter has always used and where all of her reminders are) but not on my own. Today it won't download my messages, only the info and one other account. To retrieve them (I KNEW they were there because I sent them from my personal email to the business one) I had to go online. It never downloaded to Outlook for me. I'm at my wit's end with it.

So if I can find an alternative way to set up outside of GoDaddy, do you think I'll continue with these types of issues? And is there ANY way possible to go back to POP3 if I don't use GoDaddy's MS 365?

Wish I would have seen this. I noticed issues when they switched to exchange. I moved my domain to other providers, to test them out, and have not been happy w/a few. Now I'm left trying to figure out an email wk around for my sm biz if I stay as the email issues continue, from sign in isssues, to shutdowns and random problems happening to dns records affecting email. Getting tired of it.

Hi Jonathan ! Does this means the godaddy MS365 plans you can not use it for building a list, send newsletters, get subscribers, send newsletters to individual recipients and can not do organnizing = separate lists for separate subscribers? I know form a friend that th egd MS365 are easy to setup. Can you use them when your domain and hosting is elsewhere?

When you do a video like this you loose any credibility you might have had by passing on "rumors". Stick to facts you can defend or don't do a sales video like this where you clearly are fishing for new business. We don't mind the "soft sell" if you provide value we can use from factual information.

Also, I would like your opinion on whether those of stuck with godaddy should associate our website domain/emails with the M365 account when they are already working fine through g-daddy? I am not sure where that gets us anything if we are only a 3 person team at present.

Jonathan, thank you. Another reason that I think you did mention in a way. You cannot simply buy more storage for M365. First, teams/SP 1TB limit exceeded, so I want to buy more storage, but MS will not sell it ala carte because I use G-D. G-D says I need at least 5 seats for the next level up. Then I find that the data exceeded limit error is affiliated to a file folder and all the file/videos in there add up to 200 GB, not 1.4 terabytes. So I backed up and deleted the entire folder (double delete). Still shows 1.4 terabytes in team files/shareP. Nice. I if it is not gone by properly showing the smaller size I will need to migrate my teams site and delete the old. As for customer service - G-daddy has been pretty good otherwise.

Well, for my perspective, if you are a "business" that you know will not grow, or only some people will have access to mail and Microsoft, like a little non profit organization or something similar (I'm myself part of something like that) then it could be a decent option : It's easy to set up, manage and you don't need tech experts to manage it

I am by far anything but an IT guru but I need to trust my instincts because I've been saying over and over that my crashing issues with my outlook all started when GoDaddy transitioned totally over to 365 but they insist "NOT". They are not very upfront and after listening to your video it confirmed my instinctive sense that I was ont he right track. I had 365 way before GoDaddy switched over but now I can't even link my gmail to my outlook web because it's managed by someone at GoDaddy and my sense is the account is exclusive to GoDaddy....am I making sense or am I just crazy. Have been on hold waiting for technical support for well over an hour.....they use to be good but have gone astray which is what I plan to do after this phone call. Thank you for your expert advice.

Godaddy doesn't give access to Mircosoft 365 Admin features, instead you get access to Godaddy Admin panel which is very limited and doesn't have any features to use.

The migration profess is complex because:
1- Godaddy are not helpful
2- microsoft techs are not qualified enough to run this process, you may need to backup your emails first, on your machine/s and restore then after the migration is completed.
3- The downtime is not guaranteed, you need to have both Microsoft Tech and Godaddy Tech on the line at the same time to switch the domain service over fro Godaddy to Microsoft.

Easier to get a professiona involved.

Not just Microsoft 365. I say GoDaddy just walk on by. From personal experience once you start and develop your business they have your private parts in a vise to squeeze ever increasing money from you. Gees that could apply to Microsoft also.

Since Godaddy migrated the email to Microsoft 365 I have experienced numerous issues email issues. So many messages get blocked or rejected. Spf or txt records issues maybe.
After trying to setup again my business domain account as an alias on Gmail.. Wow.. . Tons of issues. I had to have Godaddy Microsoft Rep enable my SMTP for proper authentication. I am scared now to update to Microsoft Exchange settings in case it becomes a disaster in the middle of a big work project.

ARG! I currently have microsoft 365 and so far so good no problems. But I also have godaddy and they recently advised my microsoft 365 will expire in march 2023 and i have to renew or they will cancel! What do I do or is it a gimmick to make me us/pay godaddy 365? My official microsoft 365 direct with them doesnt expire until 11 2023! My IT guy has been using 365 direct through godaddy for years without using godaddy 365. I wonder are they stopping this and forcing the change and you must go through godaddy?

Is it complicated to migrate? I wonder if it’s a good idea to test the Minimum Viable Product with the GoDaddy integration and then migrate after the business is successfully market tested.

Once profitability has been achieved, the migration would be the next priority reinvestment used for the yearly fees Microsoft charges through the app store on a Macbook.

Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems that GoDaddy allows for monthly fees.

If this is true that would allow to run several pilot protects simultaneously with the same initial investment amount and filter out only the good “seeds” that grow the businesses organically.

Thanks.. yes we made that mistake back in 2017 but luckily found an IT consulting company here in the USA that was able to restore to us control of our M365 tenant, effectively kicking GD out the back door, for a very reasonable price. We have too many domains with GD to easily leave completely but that could still happen one day. Cheers!

Thank you for this video. I have been with GoDaddy for 15 years with no problems and then all of the sudden, this year, my email service stops working. In addition, I can no longer login to my GoDaddy online account using any browser or any computer and after spending hours on hold and on the phone with techs trying to solve the problem, a GoDaddy representative told me that my problem is a known issue for which GoDaddy has no solution. My company's email has now been completely down for an entire week and one of their techs told me I was lucky that I have not been down for more than 10 days which is apparently an average response time to my issue. I have had three techs in a row literally put me on hold for 20 minutes (after waiting on hold for 20 to 30 minutes just to get through to them) telling me they needed to speak to someone about my inability to login to my account and then after all of that the line hangs up without them ever coming back on the line.

I don't know what is going on at GoDaddy, but I am having to spend my day trying to find a new email host and migrate my email to that new host. I am going to ask GoDaddy for a refund of the pro rata portion of the services I have paid for and if they deny me that refund, I will migrate all of my domain and email hosting services away from them anyway and walk away from a considerable amount of money. It’s not worth it. Do not make the mistake I made. Do not let GoDaddy host any of your domains, websites, or emails. They appear to be having serious internal problems. Don't do it!

I'm very sad to watch your video after I just bought Microsoft 365 Emails from Godaddy :( I already started having problems. I wanted to buy Microsoft 365 Apps for Business from Microsoft, but I couldn't make the setup because the system says my domain is already used in another panel on Godaddy. I don't know hot to solve this issue. For Business packages they say both emails and apps should be on the same server for one domain.

I've been with GoDaddy since 2010 - but, here's a good reason never to use GoDaddy. In December of 2021 I went to the Microsoft site and purchased a subscription for Visio. Then, I couldn't get a license from Microsoft. Why? My email was my business email - that happened to be hosted by GoDaddy. Microsoft told me to contact GoDaddy's customer support (an awful experience BTW). So, I call GoDaddy support (hours on hold) - but support tells me they don't handle Visio licenses. I had to contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint to get the license that I had paid for. I've since moved my business domain and hosting to another hosting site. I'll never use GoDaddy again. And, as for Microsoft - I consider what happened to me a bait-and-switch fraud. I wish I could ditch Microsoft - but it isn't that easy. Yeah, anyway, just stay away from GoDaddy. GoDaddy is the new Comcast.
