Under the hood lies a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six petrol engine with an electric compressor and a 48V starter-generator, delivering a robust 443bhp and 413lb ft of torque, with an overboost function briefly pushing torque to 442lb ft.
Paired with a nine-speed AMG gearbox and fully variable four-wheel-drive, the CLE 53 accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.4s (or 4.2s with the optional Dynamic Plus pack) and reaches a limited top speed of 155mph.
Big brakes, a more responsive ‘9G’ gearbox, and various AMG driving modes enhance its performance. Plus, there's an optional Dynamic Plus pack for features like a ‘race start’ function and distinctive styling elements.
