wonderful tutorial, who knew that assigning the correct black, white and gray points would provide such harmony of color?? I tried both methods. The second method more accurately colored the image, however, my eye liked the look using he first method better. Also, the first method is a bit more straightforward. Great tutorial, thank you. Subscribed.

Midpoint estabilished like this will have threshold from 50% grey to the right side, if you want to control over both sides: Treshold image from right, copy base image, create layer folder, duplicate base image here, invert AL, treshold above folder - create clipping mask, put this whole construct inside new layer folder - blend type of folder Substract.

Thanks, I will use this technique when color correcting. My question is what if I want to use this for print cmyk will the color correction stay the same when I convert or would I have to do a separate color correct in cmyk?

I have yet to find any tutorial on evening out or matching color in something like a piece of clothing that has designs on it. Is this something you can advise on by chance? For example, I have a photo I took of my son in a bodysuit. It is white with light blue waves / stripes on it. He is sitting on an ottoman covered with a white sheet and a white wall behind him. I have adjusted the photos colors to take out the yellow and correct skin tone as best as I know how (I only know basics of photoshop aside from tutorials I've been watching)....The issue I am having is that there is so much white in the photo that the article of clothing he is wearing with the blue stripes looks washed out and I'd like to bring out the color. The other issue is that the shadows from the photo on the clothing is producing a redish/pink tone so the bodysuit looks a very light blue instead of white, with pinkish tones and the stripes are so faint. I can't for the life of me figure out how to even out or match tone and color of an article of clothing with a design on it such as stripes. Please help? This is for a project I need to get done. Thank you if you could kindly help!

When I get to the step about turning the threshold back on the picture just turns gray and not black and white.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial.  One question:  What if the mid-tone point is not supposed to be grey?  What if it is supposed to be blue as in an ocean shot, or yellow as in a sunset shot, then by matching them to 50% grey, wouldn't the outcome be off?
