Greatest 2 Minutes of Grateful Dead

WARNING: You will become a lifelong Grateful Dead fan after hearing this. In my opinion, this is the greatest 2 minutes of the Grateful Dead and in live music history. Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and the Rhythm Devils are in perfect sync throughout these 2 minutes.

Comment you favorite segment of live Dead or your favorite live Dead jam!

I know there are so many more sublime Grateful Dead moments. I feel like everything came together during the end of this jam on 5/8/1977. Jerry Garcia shreds so hard here. Music was never the same after this night in May 1977.

If you know, you know. If you don't, hopefully this video will turn you on to the Dead and help preserve the legacy of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia.

If you are trying to introduce someone to the Dead, I feel like it is easier to show them a video with the band playing rather than just having them listen to the music without any actual film of the band. Unfortunately, there is no footage from the Cornell 77 show. Thus, I created this montage in an attempt to sync with the music and make you feel like you are hearing and seeing the music live. I feel like this video will be very helpful for introducing people to the Grateful Dead and for turning new fans on to the Grateful Dead. For us who are already fans, I never tire of revisiting this moment. I apologize for leaving Mickey Hart out.

Did you say "stimulation"... why yes, yes it was. But... let's not forget Winterland '77.

As a 40 year fan of the Dead, it takes a unique ear to appreciate their
music. And seeing them live is important to appreciating them.

5/8/77 is an amazing show but overrated due to its early high fidelity availability (this was one of literally every new Deadhead's first 10 tapes, and no doubt the first soundboard they had - at least in the 1980s) and that everyone else around you is telling you that this is the greatest GD show of all time. It's not - there are many of equal quality. Enjoy Cornell - My brother was at the show. But expect to be equally blown away by many, many other Grateful Dead shows.

i love all things dead, this scarlet/fire included but i wouldnt even consider this the greatest scarlet/fire, much less the greatest 2 minutes of grateful dead. i dont believe i could ever decide on a 'greatest 2 minutes' but if i had to choose my current favorite stretch of dead songs played it would be the Dark Star (1) > Other One > Dark Star (2) > Wharf Rat > St Stephen from 12/31/78 although i must admit my favorite is always changing because the dead are simply that awesome

I'm one of those cynical types that insist Barton Hall is overrated right up until I hear it for the thousandth time and realize that, yes, this was something special.
