I was running the beta version, waiting for the 20H2 to be released fully. Then I did a clean install of 2004 and let the upgrade happen through settings/update & security. No more Insiders for me.

Hi.Thanks for the tutoring. I wanted to know if doing a fresh install is more complicated on a laptop. Someone told me that drivers could be missing hence the keyboard may not work. Is this true?

For those who want to know.I chose to do a reset PC just to see and it worked out better for me. It managed to keep most of my driver's although you can install them,it certainly saves a lot of time. It also means that you do not need to activate Windows again if your windows was already activated before. Haven't encountered any weird problems thus far and it seems to work just as well as a clean install.

I think the benefit of doing a clean install v is that you can format the hard drive whereas you cannot do that on a reset.

my one concern about using the reset option is whether or not the reset will properly install the drivers. There have been incidents in the past when I have had to reinstall windows because of corrupted drivers and bad registry keys among other problems. If the reset does not connect to the internet like a full install from external media does, than how does windows determine which drivers should be installed on the device? Does it just simply reuse whatever drivers you have on your computer at the time of reset or does it not install any but the bare minimum and wait until the computer starts to try to retrieve them from the internet?

So getting rid of everything when installing it should make the pc move much smoother? I got a new gaming pc that can run a lot of games, but when I installing windows 10, it made the every game lag. I uninstalled windows 10 and went back too 8.1. If I do erase everything when installing windows 10, will I be able to go back too 8.1 if something happens? If not, will creating a restore point work?

I reset the PC, when it restored 99% the pc got into a bootloop, getting "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" everytime it boots up. So I clean installed Windows 10 through USB. Now Windows 10 is not activated, and says the product key is blocked, error code: 0xC004C003. How do I activate it again now?

I was wondering myself which one to choose after the upgrade: "Reset this PC" or clean installing from external media.

I have already decided to do the reset after checking that my upgrade is activated and basically in working order - maybe after waiting a week or so to see if any problems with the upgrade will surface.

I will still make the clean install USB with the Media Creation Tool as well, in case of emergencies (I will also make a Recovery drive).

This video basically confirms that the above procedure is what I should do.

I have actually deleted most of the more uncritical programs and personal folders from my Win 7 installation - if and when I get the "OK to upgrade" notification, I think I will delete the rest of my installed programs and folders to make the upgrade more hassle-free. I have everything important backed up, so it's a non-issue really.

I have an error problem I upgraded to windows 10 pro last night and then I wanted to just remove all the files (to remove the old os files & folders like you for a clean install) the option that said keep this pc not the one that says remove everything and clean hard drive to recycle. So it went through the process and when it restarts it says " Something went wrong with Windows we will Restart it. "Inaccessible_Boot_Device" and I have tried to make a bootable disc from the Microsoft website with the right ISO Windows 10 Pro (32bit) since I was running Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit). I cannot get the disc to boot even when choosing the boot in the bios to cddrive it does not have usb-hdd in the bios Phoenix Award Bios.

I am trying to remember if you had windows 8 computer that you kept everything. I did, and windows 10 is slower than windows 8.1 in my opinion, and I don't know why. I feel like I should go back to windows 8.1, or reset windows 10 with my files. I want to know if anyone has my problem of windows 10 going slowly.
