I want to start studying Greek and I wanted to add the keyboard and I saw Greek (Greece) and Greek (Cyprus)
please is there a difference? maybe in writing or pronunciation or something

I can't tell apart if the people I'm listening to are speaking Spanish or Greek. There's not even one clue i can distinguish them from each other with 😫🤔

Whoa, i never expected Greek to sound so latin. Idk why but i always had idea that greek sounds distinctly different to latin languages. It is distinctly different to slavic languages though.
I guess Greek's, language culture and people, massive influence on Romans is to blame, and when greek later became dominant language in the Empire it propably was influenced in turn by latin.

There is a similarity in the phonology of the Greek language with Spanish language.

Other languages sounds like "bar-bar",
there is the famous "barbaric" term comes.
Hellenic language is the mother of all tongues, although Jewish have accepted this as the only language that can translate Torah.
Even Latin letters is Hellenic.

I now realise what Daenerys Targaryen's language from Game of Thrones is based on. It sounds very much like Greek! :)

I am currently learning greek from the audio course made by the Pimsleur program. Its only audio. I am repeating conversations between two people. I also started trying to read words in greek. It is a little hard but it is fun. You think i should learn grammar first? I am afraid i would loose interest. Speaking greek by repeating conversations is what i now want.

Greek is the native language of Olympics but the official languages are English and French

Greek is actually one of the few languages which has remained pretty similar to its ancient counterpart, or so I've heard. English equivalent would be something like the King James Bible, you understand what's written but you can tell that the scripture's old fashioned (the way it's phrased) if you were to read it. But obviously the English language itself doesn't stretch as far back as the Greek if you exclude its Latin roots
