I'd rather turn into a collective conscience like the end of the tv series The 100, or if we do live on multiple planets I hope we wouldn't change beyond recognition like some of these creatures.

You can find a really good reading of this whole audiobook on the Beware the Qu channel, which claims inspiration from this video to upload the whole reading of the story. It is something special indeed. The sorrows of the mantelopes could be an entire story, and their sorrowful, existentially horrifying entrapment as memory banks and singers for the Qu is so sad and terrifying. This is a wonderful work of speculative fiction, speaks to an incredible imagination and insight into human nature on behalf of Kosemen. Recently, some 8 or 9 months ago, Koseman did a live stream where he claimed to be working on a reworking / requel / sequel to All Tomorrows that should be done within (at that time) a year or so. Really looking forward to how this story works out in the end.

The rediscovery of earth and how anticlimactic it is feels hopeful and yet chilling at the same time. The most interesting thing in the book for me, that really puts the scale of time involved into perspective is that the two Qu invasions are 150 million years apart, a timespan which doesn't even bridge the age of dinosaurs on Earth. A unique achievement of the human imagination.

The Qu lacked one thing: self-reflection.

I think one of the things that stands out to me is the time scale between every major change event. Countless generations are born, live, and die long before any of the great changes we see take place. Lived during the eras of peace and happiness, lived during the eras of misery and tribulation. It puts a lot of things into perspective. I feel that what was said at the end really resonates, that the ending point isn't the point of humanity or any species. People live and die in the here and now so that's the time that matters.
