Hello David Mahler. I think this is the best explaination regarding vxlan. I needed some help regarding vxlan tunneling. My scenario is that I have two seperate openstack clouds and I want to establish vxlan tunneling from an instance in one cloud to an nstance in another cloud. I have used microstack for cloud deployment. Can you recommend a video. thank you

Can you also do one video on how VTEPS dynamically learn about the different mac address locations? I heard there is a BGP, MPLS and LISP options.

Great explanation. In this example, the VNI was used to distinctly identify different customer routes at the VTEP end something like a VRF in PE MPLS. And it had no relevance in the underlay during its transit in the underlay. But, with in the VSWITCH, we are still limited by 4K vlans. Is that correct?

1/ Is multicast a must for VxLAN ???
2/ As far as I am concerned, Can I say "Overlay Networks" is logical network and "Underlay network" is physical network ??? am I right???

Does this work the same way with TCP packets? The video shows UDP in the example and the wireshark captures.

Thanks for your remarkable demonstration.

I'm considering deploying the first OpenStack cloud in our company. A coleague from network team proposed that hardware VTEP on switches are more efficient for VTEP on open vswitches.

Is it true? If so, how could hardware switch integrate with Neutron?
