ОтветитьI feel rather emotional about this "Mobylette Motobecane" video, as I had one exactly like it, I landed in England in 1955 as a 16 year old young man, and after that I bought this Mobylette. I drove it all over the South of England including going from Chatham to Par in Cornwall and up to Wales and to Portsmouth . When I went to University at Newcastle upon Tyne, I drove back to Chatham and then back to Newcastle upon Tyne, each leg taking about 13 to 15 hours non stop. I drove from Chatham to London, through the tunnel and then up to Doncaster and Newcastle, On occasions I went from Newcastle to Scotland to Edinburgh and Glasgow and Pitlochry to see the salmon.
Mine had a Sachs engine, and through all those journeys I never needed to change the driving belt, nor ever had a puncture.. My colleagues at Chatham Dockyard thought that I was a fool, as their philosophy was that the longer the journey the bigger the engine one needs. I never had any problems driving at 25 to 30 mph, even slower on occasions.
I never gave it any heavy maintenance, but out of curiosity, once I opened the automatic clutch and the centrifugal balls that change the width of the pulley and once I understood it, I looked after it in the manner in which I drove. and the oil I mixed with the fuel.
When I was to returned home to Malta, in 1970 I broke my heart to have to leave my beloved Mobylette behind, and to my surprise one person at Newcastle, who knew that I was leaving, he asked me for it, to put it in his collection of cars and motorcycles. He had a Rolls Royce 1904 !0 HP.
Thank you for the memories. Congratulations for the dedication and skills and devotion and accuracy and detail which I would never match, but indeed a pleasure and an honour to see you doing this, This made me feel younger and I still drive a Honda 70 cc with which I cover all the short and long journeys I need at no more that 30 miles per hour.
Thank you once again, and congratulations for the video where you respected the sound of the work conducted as the best music to accompany the video ........... that shows respect for the sound and rhythm of engineering sequences, and how the permutations an d combinations of parts bring to life " a brother or sister od my faithful biped with a rocking engine to keep the belt in tension"
{{{{ TIME HAS RUN OUT !! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Don't ignore this message !! REPENT NOW !! God the Son - JESUS came in the flesh to die for sinners. TRUST that God raised JESUS from the dead !! By FAITH accept JESUS's blood alone as payment for your sins unto Salvation, to escape what's about to happen !! Don't say you were not warned !! ONLY true believers in JESUS will be suddenly taken. THEN comes 7 horrific years of God's JUDGEMENT, poured out on the world. I pray that the LORD will open your eyes and heart to the GOSPEL.

ОтветитьHey b'y! It's a rare Silver-grey, as we used to call them. They were highly desireable amongs the kids in my day. We'd modify them a bit though - the rear sprocket at the back would be replaced with what we called a 36 (much smaller than the one here), and the front sprocket would be replaced as well. All in the name of all speed, no power haha.
Add the "five gear parts", AKA a carburettor intended for a larger motorcycle and she'd be jammin'. The seat would be lowered to be almost flat on the gas tank as well.
Almost forgot - we'd be ridin' aroun' wiv' a hooker on our bikes. That is to say, a special muffler with it's guts pulled out and shaped flat to get maximum sound out of it lol.
Of course we'd send select parts out to the States to get done up in chrome and there you have it.
Beautiful restoration.
These AV44 models are surprisingly quick : just by removing the sealing flange on the exhaust you could easily get to 60 km/h. And by replacing the carburettor with a bigger one (and with good 2-stroke engine synthetic oil) you could reach more than 80 km/h.
la vraie couleur c'est gris anthracite dommage..
Ответитьthat was so fun to watch wow she turned out wicked pretty bet its worth a lot
ОтветитьHow long did this take, im thinking about giving my old motobecane cady a new paint job along with polishing up the chrome
