Watched Donnie Darko for the first time in 20 years, and the finale with this song hits just as hard as it did decades ago. Harder, maybe, with the passage of time. The artist really channeled something rare and precious with this rendition

This rendition was written about the 6 children who were murdered by their father ( a man who also killed his wife and their mother) at the end of WWII. He was a German Nazi. So sad.

It amazes me how a song can sound so different (emotionally) when performed/interpreted by another artist and this is one of the very best examples of that.

Dawg they removed the original upload from 2005. The comment section on that video was damn near historic. So many views too. Nearly 20 years of people's voices and feelings, including my own, discarded like nothing. Real shame, had old comments on there from when I was a teenager. Still a great song, a good example of a cover improving upon the original.

I started singing this in the kitchen as I put away the groceries and reflected on my day. So, I had to play it.. The fact that Gary has responded to comments as recently as one day ago is just amazing to me. You've done something that will remain timeless. I think I speak for all of us when I say: Thank you!

Years ago I listened to this song. Cried my eyes out then. Two years ago I buried my entire family. I literally lost everything. Everything I loved, just gone. I still listen to this, I don’t cry so much anymore, but it hits my soul. Thanks Gary.
