I did exactly the same mistake. Took my CEH cert. and did internship on AppSec to get into pentesting side. Now, I am struggling to get into the permanent job role. Can u suggest any others ways to get a permanent job?

Hi Unixguy . I’ve just stumbled across your videos and have consumed everything I can find. Thank you for efforts. I’m almost 20 years into law enforcement, but I have a passion for tech , digital forensics and cybersecurity security. I’m currently considering a career move but, seems I’ll take a pay drop to get my foot in the door. I suppose that’s fair as 20 years, lots of experience and a supervisor position can’t be expected on day one . I think I can make it work and my partner is on board but the “grass isn’t always greener “ adage is giving me pause for thought. A digital forensics company has offered me a job , acquiring and analysing data from mobile devices with a view to move on to computers and communication cell site analysis. I plan on taking the Google cybersecurity certification, Blue team 1 , certification and some of the others you recommended. Hope is not my idea of a strategy but I believe I can work hard and success is possible . Your videos have helped me set a path for myself .

I am struggling to learn about cybersecurity and here you are earning like $200-500k per year and knowing so much. Mind you I live in Australia so I don't know if what you discuss I can relate.

Hello Sir, I started my cybersecurity certification a few days ago, however I'm little worry regarding that certification would put me into cybersecurity industry after completion or not. For a beginner like me, is it worthy? Can I get an entry level job? Please give me some tips which can help me as beginner. I hope to hear from you.

I did that "above-and-beyond" thing. Several years later, I was still stuck with the same pay but more work load outside of my main scope. When I asked for a raise, the answer I got was "there's no ladder to climb". When I finished my cyber degree and got a few certs under my belt, the IT director asked my boss if I could intern for IT and it was denied. So am I too good at my job that my boss can't let me go but not good enough to deserve a raise? I eventually scaled back and just stuck to my work scope.

True thing is "it depends".
I am too a person who tend to study a lot during my job and, yes, it's a pity cause I get I'm not 100% focused. My range is more like 50-95%, with spikes when I'm required to work on urgent stuff. I'm seen as a person who "is there" when needed but I cannot be the one who, when there's some free time, stick there not doing anything or just re-check anything in the company...my minds fly and I want to study.

Analyzing myself in total transparency, though, I can tell that this is due to the fact that I don't like that much what I do and I'd love to have a switch....The issue being is that I'm not ready to switch and I would hardly gain the same amount of money.
I'm a non-tech business analyst and my struggle is due to the fact that I wanna learn tech stuff (and I do) but then I hardly find opportunities to use them, ending with sensation that I cannot do anything practical.
What I do could be done by a 16 yearold teen if he applies himself...I just have to use my mind, study the platform and getting to understand what can, what cannot do, how there may be some blank spots, having to do with customer and custom-projects....something which is thought as more valuable but less satisfying overall

quickly... Im now torn between continuing my degree in supply chain and continue my line😞 or jump ship but I'm totally zero knowledge in IT. Or cyberscurity diploma and go further..... Help!!!! I'm willing to learn!!!!!! Should I forsake supply chain degree and jump to certifications and diploma in cyber security... Or take both?? 😢

I interviewed for an entry-level networking job, and they overemphasized certifications, but I think that they were just trying to eliminate me. I told them upfront that I was not certified in the first interview and they said it was fine because they would train me, and pushed me through to the next round. When I got to the second interview, all of a sudden, my lack of certifications became a problem, and that was the end of that.

My current organization does not have any pentesting role in any department. I am in a drastic decision situation - should I stay or should I pursue Pentesting.
