I don’t understand the Skinner buy out. He’s a 30 goal scorer and Buffalo hasn’t replaced him. I wouldn’t have bought skinner out

Zegras is NOT going to MTL. How do I know? Gorton / Hughes are the smartest men in the room.

Won't be going to Montreal. Anaheim wants either Guhle or Reinbacher for Zegras and Montreal won't trade either of those 2 dmen.

Re: Jarvis: the Canes need to rein in the expectations on this player. It's still early and he needs to demo consistency over 2-3 seasons. I'd pay him $5-6 million/ season for a bridge deal for 3 years then sign him long-term for a bigger $$$ if he is deserving.
They need to be leary of the "KK fiasco" and be patient with Jarvis.

Re: Zegras: if all the kid can do is thrill the crowd with an occasional "Michigan"....he won't last long in the NHL and GMs won't want him. He's not the best fit in Montréal....I'm still hopeful Hughes can find a bonefide top 6 veteran "F" to add to the mix to bolster the roster.

It really does feel like Zegras doesn't belong on the Ducks or should I say Verbeek's Ducks.

Zegras is not a fit in Ottawa.

Zegras will be moved. Montreal would never trade what Pat wants. Pat will drive value of Zegras if he plays on Ducks this year. Calgary needs bodies in line up aa they are in rebuild. Pilly never since Torts would eat him up alive on the bench. Maybe Boston as they have lost a lot of fire power may take a chance

Ottawa should trade Norris for MacTavish,not Zegras at all.I would make a straight across trade Norris for MacTavish plus a 3rd.

Wait and see on a trade for a top 6 forward they could replace Skinner internally with a kid

A 15-20 goal scorer that plays a 200ft game would be more than enough to replace Skinner. Skinner is minus 130 for his career. There was a reason Sabres got him for only a second and 2 mid round picks. And obvious why he's played over 1,000 games and never seen the playoffs

Great info as always. Thanks. One thought on Zegras to Philly. Former ANA GM Bob Murray is a senior advisor to Briere. He's a big part of why they made the move for Drysdale. If Murray's vouching for Zegras, and if Danny's pro scouts concur, he'd fit their desire to add skill to their top 6.

Flyers have far fewer natural LW's than RW's. If his D at center is not up to snuff, that's where he'd play. Question is: How coachable is Zegras? If he's willing to learn and do the work, Torts could make him better. Lastly, Zegras and Drysdale are close. And, it's already clear Drysdale loves it in Philly.

I hate to say this, but Z might end up in Utah somehow. Those Mormons won’t know how to act watching him dangle….lol

Yeah. I don't know what Kevyn Adams is doing with Buffalo. I think that he's getting timid on adding Veterans/Scorers to the roster, because of what'd happened a few years ago (but I think that wasn't his moves, but Ralph Krueger failing to go with those players).

At what point do you think Adams is going to be on the hot seat for Buffalo? I mean he’s been there 4 years and aside from building the prospects up he hasn’t really done anything to the team to make them more competitive. it’s rebuild but in the end of the day I mean they improved the year before and like you said they didn’t do anything to replace skin or who is one of their best players. Despite the long-term contract being garbage. Like I still see them in the basement and if they really want to get better they need to start looking at top six players. The Ducks don’t want what the Habs have to give.. that’s the hold up. The Kent Hughes trade package is Harris, Mesar and a pick (1st or 2nd in 2025).. Anaheim doesn’t need a Harris, they wouldn’t want Mesar and a late first round pick isn’t enough for Zegras. That’s why this trade probably won’t happen.. both GMs are better off sticking to their plan. Be patient for the right opportunity to make a move with these assets they’re willing to part with.. utilize the first half of the season to increase their value in the meantime

So you grade Kevyn Adams offseason a D for the Sabres. You also don’t think they will improve enough to make the playoffs, giving Lindy Ruff zero upgrade credit over Granato’s job last season. Surely you must agree then, that if you end up being right Pegula has to fire Adams, right?

Zegras for Marner

I disagree that the Sabres didn’t replace Jeff Skinner‘s production. Skinner is a one dimensional player that can’t play defense. The signings Adams made drastically improved defensive numbers on the Sabres. This makes up for Jeff Skinner’s one dimensional goal scoring points. If Skinner was still on the team, he would likely play on the third or fourth line and not score as many goals.

Buffalo can't afford to experiment with players anymore. They must get out of the gate strong. If Krebs has lost his spot...so, be it.
