Somethings to add as an avid cuphead fan, animator, and who knows more stuff on the behind the scenes

1: this was done by new animators who were amateurs.
2: the only thing done digitally was the coloring and the coding (ofc) but the coloring was almost on paper but they decided it looked the same regardless so they choose digital to save time
3: The entire team was really small consisting mainly of 2 bothers and one if their wives and some friends.
4: iirc the musician and score writter wasnt a “professional musician” , he didnt study music at school and just kinda did whatever

Anyways i love this game i can only imagine the hell it was to code in this handdrawn animation bc if one thing was off oof.

would anyone happen to know what the disc with the pegs are called? I'd love to create some cartoons of my own!

I will finish this game even if it kills me to show my appreciation for it.

I wish they would do an open world game in this style. I know the undertaking would be nigh impossible, but just imagine freely exploring Toon Town style villages and whimsical cartoon pastures and forests

This game is an absolute masterpiece! I'm sure if someone who lived in the 1930s was alive to see it would have a hard time believing it was actually made in the late 2010s

Every single movement is so smooth and perfect! It's more fluid than even a lot of cartoons being putout today!
Is this because it's animated without fade-ins or fade-outs? A certain FPS? Animating on ones/twos/threes/fours/etc.?

I feel like the reason the bosses are so hard is because mhdr wanted us to appreciate the animation and attacks rather than speeding through it

I’m surprised how they animated it traditionally without the use of cels like how Korean animation industries do nowadays (The pencil test, inking and coloring)

Wow, i didn't expect them to use live props for the game. I expected it to all be 3d modeled. Impressive. I now understand why everything looks so natural

I gotta let this out. Cuphead is stupidity underated, do you see these beautiful hand drawn animations? All the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into this game is absolutely incredible especially for it's time. The creators need more love with this gem and I cannot express that enough, the vintage aesthetic and wonderful color's it gives is just absolutely incredible to me. It's 2022 almost 2023 and the evolution of animation has really drastically turned, so looking at these incredibly talented people make such a thing is amazing game. Oh and the music too, don't get me started on it's beautiful and catchy tunes, it's absolutely beautiful. The people working on this really outdone themselves and it shows, I don't get how people aren't talking about this more. I just feel like it should be way more noticed compared to other games/movies/films, thank you :)
