@5;25 you noticed the rotten 2x4's that hold the tile/backer boards. It's possible a high percentage of nails/screws attached to those rotten studs are now free floating. Make me ask, When you sister nail new 2x4's to those rotten support studs, what do you do to better attach that tile wall to the new studs?
Congrats and the rest of the rebuild. I enjoyed the friendly banter. Shows go teaming skills.
Renovation is a little trickier than new construction, eh?
My fantasy is to build something new someday. It would be SOOOOIO easy compared to all the reno & fixing I've done for so long.
I’m watching this and cringing thinking omg, I hope I never have anything like those
Things in my house 🫣😬.
Ps, love all your videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Good god thats pretty bad termite problem.
ОтветитьReally like this episode like a dome all of them.
I was just wondering what did Johno have on his right shoulder. At the end of the video, when you was all standing by the trucks?
Dang, what a nightmare. You guys got your work cut out for you for sure.
Ответитьthose masks are useless if you have a beard lol you have to have a shaven face to ensure a good seal on your face lol still inhaling all that nasty shit but eh whatever
ОтветитьReplacing that wood only gives those subterranean termites new food to munch on. I’d suggest a full in ground subterranean treatment and then tent for the drywood ones. Not to mention, if there is water leaking, in that house, until you stop the leak and water intrusion, any treatment will be pointless. As someone who has had termites of both varieties, they are not going to stop chewing unless it’s treated properly and then probably needing to be treated again. Subterranean termites are vicious and it looks like there are tens, if not hundreds of thousands throughout that property. And spray won’t stop a subterranean termite colony ha! I wish yall the best of luck, this Reno’s a rough one, but makes for great content!
ОтветитьDid anyone else here Ray say "Amelia Earnhart" instead of earheart
ОтветитьThe termites have been drinking redbull. thats hilarious
ОтветитьSo glad I live in Europe❤
ОтветитьSometimes I curse the old hard brick my renovation is made out of and how hard it is to work with. Then I see this termite invested house, and I'm glad of the brick.
ОтветитьWish there were more contractors like you guys in the industry
ОтветитьHey guys! Love watching your videos, very informative and comical, but at the same time, great quality work. I just wanted to point out that the valve on top of that filter is NOT the shut off but only a bypass so you can change the filter, it doesn't shut the water off to the house. I have a very similar unit in my house and found that out the soft way. I too thought it shut the water off at first but realized it still fed the house as my wife used the kitchen sink after I turned that 'off".
ОтветитьA house built in the 60's isn't old - well it wouldn't be over here in the UK.
ОтветитьTermites locate wet wood in a house by using their senses to detect variations in moisture levels and the state of wood decay. Termites are naturally attracted to moisture, as moist wood is easier to digest and contains more nutrients compared to dry wood. Here are some factors that help termites locate and target moist wood:
1. **Moisture Sensitivity**: Termites have highly sensitive organs to detect moisture. These senses enable them to perceive areas with higher humidity, typically where there are leaks or poor ventilation.
2. **Pheromones**: Termites also communicate via chemical signals, or pheromones, which can help them congregate and attack specific areas in a structure.
3. **Condition of the Wood**: Termites prefer to eat wood that has already been partially broken down by moisture or mold, as it is softer and easier to decompose.
4. **Sound Sensors**: Some termite species can also use sound to find their way. They can detect noises that indicate cavities or weaknesses in the wood, which often accompany higher moisture levels.
Where did yall get the yellow dust pan?
ОтветитьTip: if you see ants or termites as you build always suck them up immediately while working with a vacuum cleaner…otherwise they just scatter and go deeper into the building.
ОтветитьI've done these jobs. I'll never do one again. Breaks my heart to tell a little old lady that the "soft spot" in her floor is going to require me to tear half the house down.
ОтветитьYou guys did a great job as always but what a gross house
ОтветитьYou guys are awesome.
ОтветитьGreat video! So much knowledge! Fun watch!
Termites have colonies underground not in the wood itself. It usually takes several treatments to rid them from the structure. Professional tx is best.
Gee that’s some rot there 🤦♂️
Ответитьwhy jano not wearing the perkins belt?
ОтветитьThis reminds me of the series by Laura Kampf where she uncovers problem after problem. Every wall you take down, it just gets worse!!
ОтветитьOh my goddd...
ОтветитьWatching this ,i was wondering if we got termites in the netherlands to...and googling it showed we don't have...but in a little village near the dutch border in germany, there was a little village called Millen where they have them...
And some government company are monitoring iff there is a chance if they come wandering to the netherlands...
In this vlog i see what damage they can do ...😱...
My god they eat al your saved money in this way💸
There is one plus ;in the netherland they build mostly with bricks and concrete, flooring ceiling...
But man, what damage they can do....😧
Grtz from the netherlands🇳🇱
Need to saturate all of that new wood with a product like Boracare to prevent any new infestations.
Ответитьbeen doing construction for almost 40 years and would have loved to buy a tool belt but im retiring in 50 days now 🤪
ОтветитьI hope they got a deal on that house
ОтветитьHint, hint. Termites won't mess with wood that has been brushed down with WD40.
Ответитьi want to hear JAMIE sing please you said you read all comments
ОтветитьYour medium belt is selling on Amazon for over $400 bucks. 😮
Ответитьdarn, i would have worn some gloves with so many splinters coming off of those
ОтветитьMan I love your videos, but my level of stress just kept going up with every layer of damage you uncovered in that house!
ОтветитьHa Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaa..Welcome to my world!! Home Remodeling!! Where you think you will spend 1-2 days on a job and end up there a month!!! Plus $15,000 over estimate!!! Laughing WITH you...not at ya. Major suck factor that could have been avoided years ago...sadly.
ОтветитьGoodjob...👍👍👍
ОтветитьThis kinda reminds me of Ray's house a few years back, but this is much worse... Seriously, at what point do you guys just go "Nah, tear it down, let's level it all and build a new house"? 😄
Ответить"I just saw two with wings, I don't know what that means"
-" They have been drinking Red Bull!" :D :D
This is why you shouldn’t build your houses out of wood… 😂
ОтветитьHi Folks white ants scare me to death in Australia they are everywhere ,I seen houses destroyed from White ants good luck 👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺🇺🇸😢
ОтветитьThe termites have wings because they drink Red Bull !!!
ОтветитьJeez, what a nightmare. Poor homeowner just wanted a new stair now needs a Gofoundme... :/
ОтветитьFun fact, termites will only go as high as the wood is wet, they need the water to live as well so if they are still active might mean that there is still a leak somewhere causing moisture or not enough ventilation to dry it out
ОтветитьFYI…. Tool belt problem. The velcro on one of the pouches is sewed on backwards.
ОтветитьJamie is right how some jobs just never cease to surprise us. I’ve often thought that I should have named my company, “Snowball Construction”.
ОтветитьI think I'm the only Brazilian who watches your videos, and I don't miss any.
Ответить
