Thanks for the video and stepping into the cage to show us what a northern Chinese martial art from a legitimate classical lineage looks like in a real fight. It's so rare (I can't name any other examples) to see a video pinpointing each classical CMA technique used in a real fight AND refer back to older sources to show the techniques' authenticity (particularly with northern CMA). Too many times we see videos of a "kung fu fighter" (often from an unidentified style or lineage) who fights with what looks like generic kickboxing moves and we never get a breakdown of what exact classical Chinese techniques were used.
What you have done is an extremely rare thing and I hope others follow suit and we begin seeing more real CMA fight videos, win or lose, out there with the level of transparency you have shown.
Keyboard warriors will say what they like, but at the end of the day you stepped into the cage with an opponent who applied all his strength to win and you got the job done. 加油!
PS do you see yourself stepping into the cage again anytime soon?
Everything works if you practice with pressure testing.
Unfortunately the Chinese government had stripped the Chinese Martial arts of their practical applications and methods of training making the martial arts into performance art. They didn't want people to have any means to fight them or civilians create an army of martial arts experts.
that was great video
ОтветитьDiabetes is going to be the real winner
ОтветитьMad respect putting your martial art on the line like the old school days. Awesome.
ОтветитьThought i would argue that your opponent is a very poor example a fighter at any level, at least you got to test it.
ОтветитьYou see... It would work if pressure tested in different rule set
ОтветитьNothing but respect for you. This is what our styles look like in a fight -- raw and useful. Nothing looks stylized and pretty when applied. I'm a William Cheung Wing Chung guy, and I love watching a traditional art I respect utilized effectively.
ОтветитьNice demonstration, but anything works against a non trained person. So, it can be very effective in the real world, where is rare to find a trained fighter.
ОтветитьIt's not the art, it's the artist.
ОтветитьPretty cool! The forms/kata you practice do have applications. It comes down to how each school teaches them as to their practicality.
ОтветитьBravo🎉
ОтветитьI love Mantis style. It is the most humble and unassuming style. It is the style of the confident defender. It is the style of “I don’t want to fight but if you insist I am ready.”
ОтветитьNeither of these two overweight, and out of shape, unfit fighters, gave us an imdication that their style works. 😮
ОтветитьTrue classical martial arts ARE practical and worthy in the ring. What often happens is 1) the person fighting is underweight/under-strength for the fight or 2) they have an incomplete understanding of full fighting arts (ground defense, takedown defense, etc.). But you seem to have all those covered. Kudos to you! Traditional martial arts were developed to fight bare-handed against superior/armed opponents, usually when your weapons were taken from you. They HAVE to be good enough to work. Silat is another great example.
Glad to see you do well, even if the other person was a mediocre brawler type pokemon.
What a joke, too fat slobs fighting. Neither one of them had any skills.
ОтветитьOkay that was cool
ОтветитьKung Fu VS. Kunf Fu Panda !
ОтветитьFirst time I've seen a legitimate mantis form used in a full-contact fight--excellent work
Ответитьwithout good conditioning and basic sparring- all martial arts training will be flawed, all routines
ОтветитьWow fantastic editing.. it’s not pretty “like the movies” but it’s legitimate
ОтветитьYou have to be really strong to pull those moves, as your using body weight + momentum to strike and counter, well practiced Grasshopper!
ОтветитьI remember that day, 115 degrees out
ОтветитьThat move at 26 seconds is real nasty
ОтветитьBar none best video of its kind that I've seen. Well done!
ОтветитьThat was actually very cool
ОтветитьIs it Northern style are more likely to be real? I joined a doji before. Northern Choi Li Fat. I am not trained. So I don't know what's for show and what is practical. It didn't sit well when my Sifu said that UFC is fake. I didn't agrue with him. Because he will then challenge me. I never went back..
I think this is the only footage that I have seen with Chinese Martial arts in a real fight. I know that Tony Ferguson have Wing Chun. Anderson uses Wing Chun to block close quarter punches. And Roy Nelson have Kung Fu background.
But generally, everyone trashes Chinese Martial arts. I blame it on the sifu who aren't really qualified to teach and teaching is mainly for profit.
El Kung fu tradicional siempre le ganará a estás ridiculeces de deportes de combate modernas. ¡KUNG FU FOREVER!
ОтветитьTheres a lot of Bullshido out there.
But once we break that down, and get the real puritans to show thier skill.. then theres no limits for what ANY style can do..
If youre good at what youre doing.,.. Then youre good. end of story
The MMA scene have seen nothing yet
Just love Bei P’ai Tang Lang 🎉that MMA fighter is to Fat 😬
ОтветитьMuchos olvidan que las artes marciales lograron su máxima expresión en la antigua China y de ahí se expande a otros reinos o resto del mundo derivando en las distintas disciplinas coreanas, japonesas, tailandesas, laosianas etc_etc
Ответитьwtf is that mma fighter? just a fat man don't know how to throw a punch
ОтветитьDo you practice 7 star praying mantis
Ответитьkung fu panda vs fat burgers mma
ОтветитьLowkey thought i was gonna see the green shirt guy get his ass beat. Im pleased to be proved wrong. Good fuckin knock out. And good actually applicable kungfu lmao
ОтветитьSifu Zu you Chang , the Master of Masters in mantis
ОтветитьWoow that was faker then the wwe 😂😂
ОтветитьSo basically it is a dude who trained in some martial arts against an untrained fat dude who doesn’t know anything? What am I suppose to see here?
ОтветитьWtf did I just watch
ОтветитьMma fanboys: b...but that opponent is untrained, pit him against a real fighter!
Me: kung fu was used in war not for sports, you gonna come across loads of untrained fighters on the streets anyways 🤷🏽♂️
Stupid
ОтветитьWell done.
Ответитьahahahahah.....no,no,no.
ОтветитьThis is cool and I respect your effort, but this will not be your best bet against a skilled fighter. Mantis is largely a grappling art that emphasizes Chin Na Fa. The striking you displayed, when compared against other more established striking styles is sub-par and would be easily defeated. I lived in China for 12 years and owned a gym and taught BJJ there. Many traditionalists came in and tried their hand, and the result was always the same. The guys that did the best were San Da fighters who would wreck the traditional fighters in a cage or ring. Besides being a 4 dan in GJJ, I have black belts in Shuai Jiao and a 5th Dan Goju Ryu. I have also trained extensively in wing chun, boxing and muay thai, to name of few. I know of what I speak.
ОтветитьSpeed, defines the winner. If you can't hit me, or grab me you can't win. That goes for defense and offense.
ОтветитьIt's not about if a style works, it's about if you know how to work the style.
ОтветитьProud of you bro !!!!
ОтветитьMaster Wong once said “If your Kung Fu no good, it’s not my problem.”
Ответить❤❤❤Good Fight!!!
