Gosh. Living in Germany sounds like bureaucratic hell. Will they ever digitize these processes? In Czechia we have a databox that is connected to our identity and allows us to communicate to the authorities online. Everything is connected to the population register. So if we change address then this change percolates throughout the whole systém. No need to manually contact every office. Are there plans for egovernment in Germany anytime soon?

One more question my helpers. I am married, but my husband isn't living with me in Germany. Do I need to provide my marriage certificate and if so, does it need to be translated by a certified translator into German?

Grüßi aus Bamberg. Well, actually when I did my first Anmeldung in Eggolsheim back in September last year I was staying at an Airbnb! The owner signed the paperwork and that was it. And that was good because it allowed me to go apartment hunting, when I finally learnt that even without the Schufa you can still get an apartment, you're just most likely to be asked for payslips and whatever financial documents you can provide.

If I am from EU, does Germany will issue me ID card after registration? I have been in Belgium before, and there you need to have Belgium ID card if you stay more than 3 months. After address registration they issue ID with photo and personal number. Is Germany the same?

Just a question, if youre going home just for vacation i believe you wouldnt be doing any abmeldung right since its just a vacation?

Hello! Thank you for all the wonderful information! I was on vacation in my home country while I was 6 months pregnant and due to doctors strict advice I had to stay back. My temporary residence permit expires 1 month after I deliver. The company my husband worked for informed us we need to de register myself in Nuremberg for me to re-apply for my visa to come back. however since I’m not in Germany, my husband does not have my passport or my residence permit to take to the appointment. Will this be an issue or will a copy be sufficient?

Hi! I'm not currently living in Germany, but planning to move there in the future. I'm a european union citizen. I'm thinking I'm gonna get a Zwischenmiete's room by wggesucht for say 3 months in Lepzig. My first question is, would landlord give me "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung" if it's only for 3 months (and it's Zwischenmiete)? 2nd question, do you usually sign a Vermitungsvertrag if you move in for Zwischenmiete? If I don't have a german bank account by then, how would I pay my landlord (would paypal transfer do?)

Hi just want to ask another question. Can I do the anmeldung appointment before Ive moved into my new flat? Ive got all the paper work from my landlord but I dont move into the place for another month. Will they allow me to register? or will I have to wait till Im actually living at the new flat and then apply?

As im from New Zealand and looking for work (we are able too within 90 days) hoping to get it through a company soon. Hi! I'm moving to Berlin in January and will subrent a room in an appartment. The woman I'm renting from (the main tenent) and I have signed a subrental contract agreement that specifies my stay, detailes about the appartment, rent etc. My question is, will this suffice as Wohnungsgeberbestätigung? Even though it's not signed directly by the landlord? He is informed of the sublet however. Grateful for reply!

If I decide to stay in Germany can I do the Anmeldung in this period without a specific visa that allows me stay there? Or I only can do the Anmendug once I get the visa that allows me to Iive and work in Germany?

AirBnb owners (some) give you the landlord confirmation (Wohungsgeberbestätigung) if you stay more than 3 months of time. And also if the landlord is super friendly, he/she will even give it to you for whatever the time of your stay.

But after a month I moved to a temporary apartment for another 1.5 months, and I'm planning to move to a long term apartment after that. My question is since I have already registered in my first apartment, can I skip the Anmeldung in the second apartment and do the Anmeldung after I moved to the long term apartment?
