I have a 2 day notice 😢
ОтветитьLiterally watching this two days before my job talk 😅😅😅 thankfully a lot of these things I've already done but this is very helpful. I especially appreciated the point about what the purpose of the talk is. Thank you!
ОтветитьThumbs down. More than half of the this content was irrelevant. You are also quite chatty! 1000 words, no real content.
ОтветитьThere is good info in here but could be cut down to 10-15 minutes. The remainder is just advertisements for other videos and promoting consulting work.
ОтветитьI got invited with one weeks notice!! 8 weeks? how? I didnt know the topic I was teaching until 5 days before. just how?
ОтветитьVery good video!
ОтветитьMore on promotions
ОтветитьThanks Dr. Echo for your insightful video. I enjoyed every second of it. Could we talk?
ОтветитьThanks for your video! It is really helpful. I get my job with my first job talk after watching your video. :)
ОтветитьI don’t know if you still check reactions in this post, but I wanted to say thank you for such a great video. What a combination of super helpful ideas, humor, and wisdom. I appreciate your generosity.
ОтветитьI have got very important lesson on this video. Thank you for sharing your experiances
ОтветитьThank you for this, Dr! Amazing vid! I hope you get more students on your paid course!
ОтветитьFantastic. Thanks a ton.
ОтветитьFor a teaching academic position you have at most 2 weeks. So for the teaching presentation 8 weeks is way longer. Time management therefore is important. After all as a lecturer you will not have 8 weeks for one lecture for a class
ОтветитьI was given less than a weeks notice for giving a presentation.
ОтветитьThank you very much for sharing some valuable information.
ОтветитьSuper helpful! Thank you so much!!
ОтветитьI enjoyed the presentation. A lot of really good information. I need assistance creating a presentation. How do I get in touch with you?
Ответитьthat was quite a detailed one...really helpful.
ОтветитьI am glad you also give comments based on research references. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьI really like this talk. It gives me good insights to pay attention in preparing and presenting the talks! I wish you will be watched 1 million views soon.
Ответитьyes, I'm shocked
Ответить1. An agenda that outlines who they will be meeting with.
2. Who will attend the presentation? Faculty from within the department or also faculty from other departments within the College/University? Will there be students attending?
3. Will the Dean attend?
4. Should you take questions during the talk itself or save until the end for a Q&A?
5. Setup of the room- will I be sitting or standing?
6. How much should the "job talk" focus on one piece of research vs. presenting a more holistic description of skills/experience in research & teaching.
Also that was a great point about not using something like Prezi because the computer they provide might not support that particular program. I had a student use Prezi for a class presentation and it did not work. I was furious! I asked for PowerPoint!
I didn't hear or see anything of what we're supposed to actual include in a teaching demo...can you clarify that please?
ОтветитьHi Echo! Do you have a PPT tutorial on how to create a story board for your presentation?
ОтветитьThis is helpful. Thanks! I loved the Schitts Creek GIFs :-)
ОтветитьAnd it's important to repeat it over and over again, to prepare well! :)
ОтветитьThanks Echo - another great video. Other important questions to ask the committee especially for teaching demos (if not already made clear): is the audience undergrad or graduate-level? Is there an expectation that the audience has had some background in this area before?
