My Chesapeake Bay Retriever is definitely not my biggest fan, even after 8 years. I rescued him from an alcoholic, drug addicted couple who kept him in a covered cage all day. He couldn't even stand up or turn around. They punished him for pooping in his own cage, though he had no choice. I'm not a dog person, but after a few visits of seeing this neglect and cruelty, I simply told the couple I'd watch him for awhile. They hardly even noticed I left with him. Sure, like any dog he listens to me when it's convenient and profitable, but ignores me in every other situation. He consistently runs from me to every other human being, tail wagging, for their attention. He adores my husband, who takes him on hikes, but will also forget to give him water and walks him way too many miles. My husband encouages highly aggressive games, which have resulted in him and others getting bitten! Although I'm the one who gives food, water and consistent care he will growl at me and bare his teeth when I attempt to brush or even just pet him. I swear I feel like the unappreciated wife of a contemptuous, mysogynistic dog husband!😀😬 He allows me to serve him, and I should be greatful for that!

Sometimes my dog does and does not do these actions. Personally i think he likes me, but he seems to have something happening in his mind. Might be because dogs are social creatures and we do not go out for walks much.

Please don't feel discouraged by this video. Dogs have different personalities, and the things they do can just as easily be different depending on your boundaries set in training. Just because they might not do some of these things, does NOT mean they don't love you. This is just absurd. Not every dog exhibits the same behaviors.

I've had a pitbull since he was 4 months old, he is now almost 12....he has NEVER liked to cuddle 😢 he always sleeps on bed but always gets up if you try to cuddle with him 😢😢

Ok but dogs might behave dif.,my dog is more of a cold type,so she likes to sit on her own,sometimes hates to cuddle,she wags her tail everytime she sees me and i talk to her,she just doesn’t like to do extrovert things as much as other dogs.

Look this is why you break them early as a puppy. Break them is not beating them either. It is showing that you are in charge and no biting or anything else is needed. It is a tough love kind of relationship. Which always works the best.

#5: I had a dog that actively loved playing "keepaway" with her toys. She thought it was a great game making you work to get the toy from her. Usually once you got and started tossing it or playing tug of war keepaway was over and she do normal dog play. I know she thought it was good fun because she would wag her tail like crazy and bring it back in range for you to try again and again. I miss that dog.

Sooo... Marvin is a dachshund-pitbull (with a dash of pomeranian). We are everything to eachother. But He DOES sometimes show his teeth, as he lunges to lick your face. It can be super disconcerting at first, but the truth is, we've worked out, he does it in moments of extreme happiness. With his whole @ssend shaking with the tail, spontaneous zoomies, the whole bit, He's SMILING. Once you're used to it, it's comical. We call it the pomeranian face or grimace. It's really the only time he looks like that, otherwise he's a near perfect blend of dachshund & pitbull.

A dog bearing their teeth and growling isn't always a sign they want you to back off. One of mine is a rescue, and never learned how to "dog". Toys, chew treats etc mean nothing and he's got no idea what to do. But start slapping the ground in front of him or rolling him around and he loves it. Play bow and then it's all teeth, growls, play bites and zoomies. Runs off like a bat outta hell and comes back for more. When he's worn out it's dog kisses and cuddles. Just important to know your dog
