It makes it more sad when you realize that wills dad left I’m in real life and at so point both of these men stopped acting and that hug that uncle Phil gave will was a real hug and completely unscripted as was most of that monologue
ОтветитьI think that that wasn't scripted. I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that he was actually venting about his dad.
ОтветитьThis scene still gives me the goosebumbs after so many years... RIP James Avery, we will not forget you for a long time.
ОтветитьSuch a great scene. What an amazing actor will truly is. Sad to see that Jada manipulated him and sent him into a downward spiral. I wish him the best.
ОтветитьIt hits harder when the same happens to you
Ответить"I'll call you next week & iron out the details" Will knew that call was never coming
ОтветитьThis is what I loved about this show. How they portrayed uncle Phil. They didn’t make him a bafoon, or a running joke. He wasn’t an absentee or boor. Uncle Phil portrayed what a real man should look like, firm and hard when needed, soft when needed, defended his own but made them admit and own up to their mistakes, demanded discipline and the very best of boys, and raised them to be good men of outstanding moral characters. I wish more shows put the same level of importance on a good father / father figure than they did attempting to make them a joke or useless in the family
ОтветитьI know how it is! Without a father I seen my father one time I was very little and after that didn’t see him anymore. :( I’m 37 years of age now and I learned everything on my own. Course I had my mom and grandmother but they both was always there for me! Rest in power mom and grandmom ❤️
ОтветитьUncle Phil was better father with Will than Lou.
ОтветитьIt's sad watching this some parents aren't meant to be parents
ОтветитьTHIS MADE ME CRY. 😢😢
ОтветитьMan. Uncle phil is the king of stepdads. Im step dad to a 14 year old who has a dad very similar to Lou. Remember the first time the kid had a blow up like this, but he always covered and misdirected, and i had to get to the root, once we got there, he broke down, and all i could do was just hold him like uncle phil did will.
ОтветитьI watch this video every once in awhile, I got to 11 birthdays before I stopped wondering why there was never a card or a call.
ОтветитьOne of the greatest scenes in TV history.
ОтветитьGoddamn,i expected a lot, this is downright incredible acting,if this is irl how will went through life then no wonder why the actign is so intense
ОтветитьThe most genuine acting i've ever seen. Had to look up if Will Smiths Dad abandoned him to see if he was channeling that pain, nope. Was all acting, bravo.
ОтветитьPoor will all he wanted was his dad and he had his uncle
ОтветитьWhy did I watch this 3 times if I’m just gonna cry 😭😭
ОтветитьFrom having father issues (not the same) I get this shit hits close asf
Ответить“How come he don’t want me man” That part actually wasn’t scripted. Neither was that hug. In that moment, Will Smith was actually hurting and Philip Banks was comforting him.
ОтветитьThis wasn’t scripted. Nobody knows that.
ОтветитьLiterally gets me every time
Ответить“To hell with him” will smith is such an amazing actor so much emotion in this one scene
ОтветитьI’ve had an amazing father in my life but also same time knowing there’s a man out there who helped create you and having your own kid and knowing how much you love em and would never abandon em it still hurts also knowing they threatened to kill you to your mother and told your mother when he pushed her and she fell on her stomach that he hoped the baby dies really stings and fills you with hurt and anger but you get through it and you be the best father you can be for your kid and even if you don’t have a kid, if you don’t even have a step fatneher you have a mother ect and thst all you need
ОтветитьThe man may have been his father...but he never was his dad :(
Ответить“ First things first rest in peace Uncle Phil
For real, you the only father that I ever knew…❤ “
“How come he don’t want me, man?” Absolutely no one should have to ask that! Gutwrenching!
ОтветитьThis is too close to home because I have both parents who didn't love me at all
ОтветитьBest will smith scene ever!
ОтветитьI cried man
ОтветитьCrazy how even with a so/so step father in my life, this scene still brings me tears as a 28 yr old single dad. I love coming back to this scene in private when i need to let out emotion. Will in this scene takes the words right out of anyone who has experienced this mouths. I feels extremely refreshing when you have piece like this to speak for and represent those who have experienced a dad or a mom not being there in life early on or at all.
ОтветитьOne thing all I got to say at least he got to say goodbye this time 😢 hits a personal level
ОтветитьOne of the best cinematic moments ever. Fine writing, amazing acting. Drives me to tears everytime.
ОтветитьJust reading will Smith's autobiography, just got to the page about this scene, wow amazing the emotions, honestly true to the heart acting, fantastic book and a fantastic actor
ОтветитьHomeless, absent, broken...and now that he's not well I'm supposed to support him.
ОтветитьLou went to go smash Jada
ОтветитьThis happened to me. All these yeaes later, it still hurts to watch this scene
Ответить“I had fourteen great birthdays without him! He never even sent me a damn card TO HELL WITH HIM!!!” He is so heart it’s heartbreaking 😢
ОтветитьDeep
Ответитьwhoo
ha-haa😔
I don’t think he wasted his money on that present, he just bought it for the wrong person.
Ответить😢my is like lu💔😔my mom passed away and my dad left me
ОтветитьHe actually had his father leave so the speech was real😢
ОтветитьHe took his frustration out on Chris Rock years later
ОтветитьFirst thing first…
Ответитьmannn 💔
ОтветитьSad thing, he ended up with Jada
Ответить“First things first Rest In Peace uncle Phil for real” -Cole
ОтветитьRest in peace 🙏🏻🕊️uncle Phil
ОтветитьI cried so much 😢😢😭😭
