Top 10 Worst Fire Emblem Bosses

Gomez and multiple Fire Emblem 5 bosses are the only blemish to the masterpiece that IS Fire Emblem 5. They're impossible to hit and you need insane luck to even scratch them thanks to their immense resilience. If Gomez had a 40 avoid and 7 speed instead of all that insane stuff, he will be fixed no problem. I don't mind tough bosses, but I really do get annoyed/afraid to encounter bosses with SUPER HIGH AVOID.

Algorythm

Honestly, even on Normal, Gomer and Hyman have surprisingly high stats. I think even Jegan just meets theirs? I distinctly remember getting filtered by Hyman way back in the day.

I swear to god when i fought the black knight in my very recent PoR run ike only did critical hits and won easily in two turns, so my reaction was "oh, i guess it was scripted to be a fight that can't be lost with automatic critical hits with all attacks with the ragnell, very lame"

All of Black knight's fight problems would be solved if you could save between Chapter 27 and the BK fight!

Its one of those things;
Where the art and gameplay really get me hooked, and makes me wanna play all the Fire Emblem games;
And then i remember they got some of this shit sprinkled in... and then i just go; " . . . how can i, delete that one mf'er . . . "

Honestly the first 3 bosses in shadow dragon should take the no 1 slot. Those guys... The game gets good after though.

Against Gel in FE6, just out-defense its attack. Use a General, Bors or Wendy. Just get more than 25 defense, then Gel’s 29 hit point will be a joke. Tank all the damage and break the weapon. You will have as much time as you want to kill Gel

I had a hilarious 10 def Shanna once against Henning one playthrough and it was the most fun I've had front-lining a falcoknight

Honestly a big problem with Fire emblem boss battles during the early games, is the fact since a large part of the gameplay itself is dictated by RNG earned stats, there really is no way to make bosses interesting. The best fire emblem can really do back than was give you a cool map and a story to make killing them satisfying

I think the Black Knight was intentionally designed as a fight people aren't supposed to win. You technically can, but that's more or less just bonus content given how difficult it is. Most people who play are never going to manage that. They didn't want Ike truly beating the Black Knight till their final duel in Radiant Dawn.

Great video, 100% agreed about Black Knight. No matter how many times I play Path of Radiance that is still the scariest moment in the entire game. The RNG is the real main antagonist. I am curious if your picks would change to include any of the Engage bosses though, since this video was produced before that game was released.

Why didnt mention supports in the gel section, you can get up to 25 hit with them.

Wanna throw my hat into the ring with some honorable mentions. Carlyle and the Final boss from Sacred Stones, but only if you don’t do any grinding or solo Seth. Much like Gel/Kel, Carlyle is a swordmaster with a 1-2 range weapon and sits on a throne. Without grinding and leaning on Seth the whole game, you’re likely to have pretty mediocre stats. The characters that have high enough stats to hit him won’t have enough strength to damage him enough to outpace his healing, or if they can hit him he will probably double them back and kill them. I’ve played through FE8 several times and every time I get to Carlyle, I just don’t even bother fighting him until I’ve broken his weapon. And the final boss isn’t particularly hard, but he can AoE sleep your units and then 1 shot them. The first time I played 8, I didn’t realize he could do this (and I didn’t bring the staff to heal the sleep). I stupidly bunched up and then he moved (which was unexpected) to get as many of my units in range and slept them all. Then proceeded to one shot 3-4 units before I could fight back. If you’re trying to go deathless or playing blind it is just a poke in the eye right at the finish line. And that’s not even covering how restarting the chapter means having to go through the first half of that stage all over again.

It almost feels purposeful how difficult the black knight looks because canonically Ike wasn't strong enough to beat him yet, anyway, they went too far.

The medeus fight It wouldn't be so difficult if the falchion were better too.

I'm not talking about turning it into a Ragnell or Binding Blade, but a little more strength for the supposed definitive weapon of the game wouldn't be bad.

It's actually possible to facetank Hard 5 Medeus with Marth if he has capped defense and 51 or more hp. Needless to say, this is absurdly difficult.

Dude you weren't joking about boldo. To break through the defensive line i healed the green units up and had them help me. I think that belped.

What about the enemies that can't take damage, such as veyle from fe engage

strangly i often end up geting very lucky against the blackknight on my first playthrouh i died 2 and then ended up lasting until nasir showed up but on three other times i played the game i proged eather twice in a row every time😅😅

The whole point of the Path of Radiance Black Knight fight is that you're not supposed to be able to win by playing normally. That's why the retreat option is there so you run and feel that regret of not being able to beat the BK in game. Radiant Dawn doubles down on that concept because the BK survives to be a main antagonist for Ike. Winning the fight in RD is catharsis for not being able to beat BK in PoR. Actually beating the BK in PoR should be seen as a challenge run, something you have to grind for by rerolling level up stat gains for both Ike and Mist over the course of the game.

Before the POR black knight fight you can find a nihil scroll at a village in chapter 24.

Playing FE 4 and 5 really struck me with how much of a challenge run keeping your units all alive is.

Personally, I REALLY like that the Black Knight is luck based. Even at his absolute strongest Ike’s fight with the Black Knight is only just barely even at best. There’s a very real chance that he just can’t do it. If Path of Radiance was a standalone game, then it’d be more of a problem, but there’s still Radiant Dawn for him to be a threat.

I trained mist my first fe9 playthrough, mostly with bEXP. I also got the black knight fight first try, so my take was never the same as this, but I can see how it would be unfair otherwise.
