In this video I will have a look at two chinese power saver devices, explain how they work and why those might not be a good option to save power. Along the way I will talk about reactive power and distortion reactive power.

it was like the LED light bulbs, which many are made in China by an American company much like the pro power saver. Everyone complained about the LED LIGHT BULBS said they aren't energy efficient and won't help you save money on your electric bill, and then the electric company supported it. People complained about energy star devices, said the devices won't save money but low and behold the do. If you got 6 of these devices and installed them in your tiny home they would reduce your power consumption easy...

When I shunt feed my flux capacitor directly in parallel with an 8k franistat, so much voltage is generated that I have to turn on appliances to drain the reverse amperage feedback. Nothing quite like free power.

For those who really want to save a lot of electricity: The TEST Foundation published the article "Saving energy in everyday life - save 1,000 €." The greatest savings potential are energy-saving shower heads, up to 300 € p.a. at a cost of only 20 €.* Otherwise, LED lamps, window sealing strips, switchable power strips, energy-saving heating pumps, programmable thermostats, radiator reflective foils, and timers (e.g. to switch off routers at night) should be installed everywhere. In terms of cost, effort and savings, the most effective insulation measures are roof, cellar ceiling and roller shutter box insulation.

A few days ago I looked on Amazon's "hot selling" electronics and saw one of these pieces of crap.

The worst part is that the people who are buying them do not own the equipment (or have the knowledge) to accurately measure their power usage. The reviews section is full of sad sacks saying: "I plugged it in and I'm waiting to see what happens"

I put in a fake one star review with a link to this video, to help combat misinformation.

Thanks again!

What I was looking for is something that can regulate the power to match the power frequency as the same as inside yes everything inside the including Motors worth of a 60 amps but I'm sure the ballast that supplies the power outside from the power main power supplies outside runs at a different frequency so increase the power usage of your Motors and the appliances you need something that can change the frequency of them to make them run smoother so maybe this is how we do

intersting. These correct power factor, something not monitored by utilities for residential customers so absolutely useless for a homeowner to buy. Some products have capacitors in them to correct power factor within the device itself due to regulations so this device plugged into those devices would either have no benefit or could actually overcorrect the power factor causing a new problem.

Is there really an energy power saving device?

Ответить
@solomonsamsonovich
@solomonsamsonovich - 30.03.2023 16:17

these devices really work, but on factories with a lot of motors.
they reduce reactive part of power, so a generator will need to be less powerfull to feed a factory.
because the reactive part goes against current flow, so generator need to be more powerful

If they are Capacitors then could I plug one into a power board/strip that is plugged into a generator to start an electrical device that the generator alone "almost" but can't quite start due to start up load ?

My Xbox 360 PSU has a small capacitive dropper circuit in it and when not connected to the Xbox 360, it will correct PF of inductors. I leave mine plugged in all the time to compensate for my doorbell transformer.

@ronbart8082

Most excellent presentation. Very well done. I would have added a bit about large industrial plants running induction motors will have a large leading reactive load which will shift the power factor down from 1.0 (or purely resistive load). Because that reactive load has to be carried from the power grid to the plant, the mains have to be sized to carry this larger current (reactive + resistive) so the electricity producers will charge a power factor penalty to this large reactive user. To avoid this penalty fee, the large plants will install a synchronous motor. This type of motor has a lagging power factor because it appears capacitive rather than inductive. The synchronous motor's reactive current is 180 degrees out of phase with inductive motors' reactive current and can effectively cancel out all reactive load seen by the grid hence no power factor penalty. Synchronous motors are a little on the weird side, so I'll end my pedantic discussion at this point.

Yes, I agree 100%, with this video, at least you know how reactive your load is, you don't know if a capacitor is required or not and of what value, if your load power factor is correct, actually you could make it worst with these devices and ending paying more for electricity.
