a young Shrike on the look-out

This juvenile Northern Shrike was on the lookout for an easy breakfast on a chilly winter day. Shrikes will scout for small birds & rodents and are commonly known as butcherbirds for their habit of impaling their prey on thorns or spikes. Cute, huh?
