"(...)With a country accent, but not vulgar" sic..hummm ok! If you say so!
ОтветитьThey ate each other and there wasn't a mention
ОтветитьSomething about Cirian Hands screaming EREBUUSSSS just before the tunnbaq threw him down the hole has stuck with me
ОтветитьAbsolutely magnificent programme....
ОтветитьIm reading the book the terror its loosely based on this voyage the book is written by Dan Simmons its pretty good this is a very interesting documentary.
ОтветитьThe Inuit historian has such pathos and respect for the lost souls… very moving. I find it obnoxious that the narrator asks “who is to blame?” Fate, bad luck, Mother Nature… you undertake such a dangerous task in a desolate frozen world chances of it ending badly are pretty high. Amundsen may not have had the British flare for drama but he had the sense to embrace the way of the people who lived there for centuries which is why he succeeded in the Arctic and Antarctic whilst the Brit’s failed! I’m sure he preferred succeeding with less glory than Franklin, Scott or Shackleton got from their failures. Although I love the story of Shackleton and his two men sledding down that last mountain and surviving… fate was with him that day!
ОтветитьCamping with steve brought me here
ОтветитьWow, I would've liked to have heard more from the bloke who sawed the ends off his frost bitten fingers and discussed it as though it was as mundane as changing his socks.
ОтветитьMost people are starved for real information like that shown in this documentary. Thank you.
ОтветитьSome of you kids may not be aware of this but the History Channel actually used to show historical documentaries.
ОтветитьI got the ends of my fingers in the drawer...yikes!
ОтветитьGreat history
ОтветитьThis documentary is an excellent companion to "The Terror" TV series, part of the story in the series is fictionalized, but don't let that stop you from watching it, it's great, some of the best acting ever.
ОтветитьAs for the moral aspect of cannibalism, if you don't want me chowing down on your liver after we've been stranded for years and you just died, don't go with me on any Polar expeditions! Because I've heard with good authority that liver goes well with Fava beans and a nice Chianti!
ОтветитьI wish I'd had a wife who supported my career. My time spent in the Marine Corps was outstanding, having made Honor Man in boot camp and my first two promotions being meritorious promotions. I had decided I wanted to make a career out of it and had already consulted my wife and she agreed. While we were at the recruiter's office to sign my reenlistment papers, I was to get another promotion and was to choose the duty station of my choice for 3 years. However, he informed us that while my wife could accompany me to my main duty station, she couldn't accompany me during my one year of required duty in Okinawa. I was okay with that, but wife threw a fit! There was no way she was going to let me out of her sight for a whole year with a bunch of "pretty Geisha girls!" No amount of talking could persuade her to change her mind, even though I'd never given her a reason to doubt my faithfulness. She said, "It's either me or the Corps!" Stupid me, I chose her. Two years later we were separated and a year after that divorced. And life goes on.
ОтветитьWhat a nightmare
Ответитьwow history channel can broadcast good documentaries?
though that was a full alien crap channel xD
Franklin wanted to find the northwest passage but instead he found his ultimate doom! In an arctic wasteland where nobody wants to live or visit!
ОтветитьThe McClure rescue party was rescued after sledging north to Beechy Island where Franklin's men should have went.
ОтветитьIf a person gets hungry enough, that person just may resort to cannibalism as a last resort.
ОтветитьThe man who ate his boots
ОтветитьIt’s always fun watching pretentious Englishmen spinning a huge failure into the greatest expedition known to mankind! Lol
Just face it, native people survived and thrived were the supposedly smartest white men on earth perished.
Should have used gps.
ОтветитьWonder how many trannys were there haha
ОтветитьThe Inuit were right the boats definitely came south considering Canada just found both of them in recently. The terror was way way southwest bottom of king William island not north west where they got stuck. Whether the drifter as ghosts or a few men were able enough to get them that far we will never know for sure but I’d always trust what the Inuit people of my country say. They’re honest and don’t look for attention. They basically live on the moon for gods sake. If only Franklin asked for help theyd be alive and if the searchers listened to them they would’ve found the party in lady janes lifetime
ОтветитьWho would go search for somebody knowing that their fates could turn out the same?
ОтветитьHow did they get their mail sent back once they got to greenland?
ОтветитьBut its amazing that their technology was SO PRIMATIVE but effective, to just hit the very vast ocean without modern technology.
ОтветитьThe nerve these guys had to just hit the ocean, with just the WINDS AS PROPULTION . UNREFRIDGERATED FOOD, NO ELECTRICITY, NO MODERN PLUMBING SAILING IN WATERS THEY CANT DRINK, THE smells had to have been horrific if they had livestock as a foodsource. I couldnt have done it. But these guys had it good for those times.
ОтветитьBeneolo ship
ОтветитьI bet they all wished they'd listened to Brand and went to see Dr. Wolf Edmunds. Hindsight is 20/20.
ОтветитьDid that guy get frostbite just for this documentary? Sometimes I just don't understand this endless quest for fame.
Ответитьcptn, our food is tainted. " never give up.......never surrender "
Ответить❤, ਆਤੀ, ਸੰਦਰ, 22 ❤
ОтветитьSuch a Sad ending. His wife was amazing.
ОтветитьBritish guy still steeped in Victorian Era principles can't bring himself to accept the fact that all the cut marks are indicators of cannibalism. British guy has clearly never experienced starvation.
ОтветитьSinger sounds a bit like Dido!
ОтветитьDude just accept the reality that they ate each other instead of blaming the locals 😂
ОтветитьCan you please add Arabic subtitle?
.
I played this doc for my dad. He married an Inuit woman (my mom) as soon as the US passed legislation that interracial marriages were “legal”. 1967.
First time I saw this doc…the Brits were claiming INUIT ATE THE expedition! Now that segment of the doc is cut out. 🤣
درود بر بزرگ مردان تاریخ
ОтветитьThanks , Bill, for uploading this. I came across it by sheer chance!
ОтветитьLOL and attack, they were attacking each other to eat each other.
ОтветитьI wonder which one got to eat that monkey 🙉
