Squarespace Sidebar Plugin Setup

Would this type of sidebar work with ad services like Mediavine? Or do I need a template with a sidebar already built in for ads to work with this?

Is it possible to make the sidebar not scroll with the rest of the page? I am trying to do a contact us sidebar that does not scroll. thanks.
