ОтветитьSo how is it pronounced?? I still have no idea.
ОтветитьMy name is Shamay - and always, gets massacred! It's pronounced Shuh-May. I've been called Shammy, Charmay, shannay, Chimay, lol. I used to get upset about it, but as I've gotten older I just giggle and go with it. :D
ОтветитьSaoirse...? I always thought it is pronounced Saoirse, Saoirse or Saoirse! But today I have learned it is pronounced Saoirse.
Ответитьmy birth name is Angullia, and everyone couldnt pronounce it at school so i had it changed to Julia since its easy to say but still sounds slightly like Angullia
ОтветитьLooking through the comments here, it's evident that the Irish don't know to spell. The names aren't odd, they're spelt wrong 🙂

ОтветитьMy name is Micol, and it's pronunced like Nicole but with m, but everybody calls me Michael.....WHY!?
ОтветитьShe's so beautiful
ОтветитьSomeone Irish once told me it was pronounced "Seer-sha" though? They said Saoirse was pronouncing her own name wrong lol
ОтветитьIn fairness Saoirse isn't the most difficult to pronounce or odd name for non-Irish english speakers to pronounce. None of the attempts were really that far off. It's much more fun trying to see foreigners try to pronounce names with 'mh' in them like Niamh, or Caoimhe, and then either argue that there's no 'v' in there, or that there's an 'm' in there ( or both ).
ОтветитьA bollywood actress's name is Koechlin pronounced as Keklin and the whole India has been pronouncing it wrong all the time😂
ОтветитьIn Irish it is pronounced a bit differently depending on dialect. In Connemara the letter combo AOI is pronounced "ee" , in the south of Ireland it is more like the way she herself pronounces it. In the north (Donegal, etc.) it is more like the English word "air" All are correct actually.
Irish is a language that predates the Roman alphabet and so the Roman alphabet (our alphabet) is a little inadequate for the Irish language. Therefore the spellings sometimes make no sense in English, but there is a system to it, The spelling was revised in the 1950s and it's a bit easier for English speakers but it is still a bit of a mystery to English speakers.
Mate I fuckn thought it was "Saio-reese" LMAO
ОтветитьIt is "SUR-SHA"
ОтветитьIt is "SUR-SHA"
ОтветитьInstead of procrastinating:
Rhymes with inertia.
I always thought it's Saw-Ray wth lol
ОтветитьSir-Sha? Hahahahaha!
I really love these Gaelic names!
Not so far, Egan (as the Colombian biker) also is one of them!
As a Portuguese speaker I used to pronounce it as "Sah-oh-eerss" or "Sah-oh-eer-see". "Sursha" makes no sense for my ears hahaha
ОтветитьI can't be the only one who's been saying "Source-See" lol
ОтветитьMy friend's name is Fiachra. Everyone messes that up as well. Pronounced FEAR-KRA.
ОтветитьIt’s Gaelic, so for Americans to say it doesn’t make sense is kind of ignorant. It makes sense to Irish people.
Ответитьalways pronounced it sah-or-ees in my head lol
Ответитьits a silence S in the beginning so its AOI-RSE-PSS-PSS-KITTY-PSS-COMEHERE-PSS
ОтветитьSo, why is it written the wrong way? Like writing the name Yuhagnton and saying it should be pronounced Jonatan.
ОтветитьWho the hell pronounce it seahorse?
