I have some questions how do i know what sizes to use for the rig and do i need to have that specific reel i also have a medium light rod i never usually catch fish and u would like to use this rig could u tell me the size if u see this please anyways nice video

Great catches! Can I request a video with modified setups? I'd suggest fixing the power bait on your leader a few inches ahead of the hook as you would for a centerpin float setup, or try a hair rig like carp anglers use. You would almost eliminate the potential for gut hooks completely, and get better hook up ratios. I would love to see a conparison video of you testing the effectiveness of those rigs. Tight lines!

Love your videos, subscribed! Stupid question, if Powerbait floats, why don't you need a small sinker a little ways up the leader to keep the bait only slightly up from the bottom? Thanks!

I caught a trout and I put it back. It was around 9 inches. I was saddened to see it go belly up after being put back. I hooked it in the upper lip so it wasn't deep at all. I thought maybe it was in shock and would snap out of it but it didn't. I thought it was such a waste until a seagull swooped down picked it up and in mid flight swallowed it whole. I learned that day nothing goes to waste. Something will eat the fish you throw back.

use 2 powerbait eggs on top of the hook and powerbait on the hook. size your liter to get above the weeds. Helps it float off the bottom better

Is trout loving corn pretty universal across the US? I live in PNW. We don’t grow as much corn as the south and Midwest. So I’m wondering if our trout would be conditioned to eat the corn flavored powerbait.

This definitely looks like a u-fish or stocked pond. I'd like to see this same setup used in an actual lake to see how effective it really is. This is pretend fishing at best.

Why not use a bobber? Serious question. Sometimes the fish are good at nibbling so a bobber is helpful for me on when to hook it or yank the rod.

I caught my first trout today with this method. Same Power Bait, same Carolina rig, but I was in a kayak so I suspended it under me and let the wind carry me around.

When is this setup most needed? Learning with my kids right now. Im seeing all kinds of different setups.

Good ol' Carolina rig. I've never fished for trout before, I only just now moved to a place that has them so I've been doing some research. I thought they were only fished for with flies and spinners/spoons, but now I'm seeing you can catch them many different ways.

Some other life will most likely eat it (fish, crayfish, bird, etc.). But I agree, if it's most likely going to die I'd rather enjoy it. Thanks for the tips on prepping the bait. Mine tends to fall apart as soon as it hits the water.

Question. Do you let it sink to the bottom? Or just cast out?

Been my go to lake rig for over 30 years. I like to put a small worm up near the eye of my hook and enough power bait or eggs behind it to float it. Wax worms, butter worms, meal worms n redworms all work.

I do this with a bubble completely full of water and a treble hook. Orange extra scent with the glitter in it are the absolute best!

Thanks for the tips on the setup I’m going to try it this year. Can you talk about your rod setup a little? I’m still learning and what makes it difficult is there are so many choices, with not a lot of consistent information on what makes one piece of gear good or terrible. I’m just looking to fish from shore at a couple local lakes, for trout and whatever else might be living in there. We’ve caught a few bass there in the past but I don’t have the consistency that I’d like so some trips are more fun than others. I’d really be interested in hearing your suggestions on rod length/power/action, as well as line type and weight. We have two spinning reels but I might get a spincasting reel or an underspin for my wife, as she struggles with the spinning reel and gets tangled and stuff, which makes the trip no fun for her. I might even try a spincast setup for myself to keep things even for each of us when we go together. Thanks for any help/advice you can provide!

The best tip i can give for trout fishing is don't cast to far 10 15 20 yards is way more productive than launching it as far as you can

The trout don't die if you deep hook them and cut the line i have caught plenty with hooks already in them and quite a few with the the hook and line hanging out their anal even small trebles
