Why can't you extend your SRAM on a PC I remember when you could. Just 100mb of QDR SRAM on one of the memory slots would offer some kind of speed up surly what am I missing why did this become a non option.

I have phenom x4 840 which has L1 64kbytes, L2 512 Kbytes but has no L3 6mb. Does it affect anything ? For instance, if I buy phenom x4 945 which has L3 6mb, Would it be a lot better ?
