i feel bad for the victims because they didn’t deserve what happened to them but i also feel bad for what happened to richard as a kid because he didnt deserve that either. my dad treated my brother similar to how richard was treated as a kid and my brother now has mental/anger problems. not trying to seem inconsiderate but seeing from experience i know childhood trauma can turn u into a diff person

i don’t think richard would have became what he became if he had good and supportive family. He was surrounded by sick people and physical head injuries. It doesn’t give a excuse for what he did but i truly feel had he been born in a loving family to looked out for him i don’t think he would have became a serial killer

Richard was a genius with his iq. He didn’t have a chance in life. His family distorted his brilliance instead of nurturing it.
They say there is a fine line between genius and insanity. I found this true with my ex husband. It did not take much to push him over that edge.
Richard with an iq of 152 (genius) was wronged by his family and turned into a monster with it.

When I see him as a kid in photos, I really see an angel and a very cute and good looking boy. Most probably he suffered much more sexual abuse in and outside the family than we will ever know. That combined with other circumstances and the stuff his cousin showed him… duhh NO wonder he became this killer and drug addicted maniac.
I know how far down the line you can go mentally because I was sexually abused by my own uncle as a kid and for years tried to down the memories with heavy alcohol use which eventually made me into a monster en though I was and am still good looking. People are trash and especially when kids are good looking at a young age the chance of them being molested are just up all the way.

Look at this other ‘Hitchhiker’ killer documentary. What was underneath all of this? A good looking kid who was, again sexually abused by older men. It’s just disgusting and root for all evil and addictions…

It doesn’t justify his actions at all but I know personally how it feels when you have so much trauma and you have no family to go to or a safety net. I was also almost on the verge of losing it and destroying myself but thank god I turned my life around. But trust me what he says about evil forces, it’s real. When you give into drugs and alcohol the devil will find you and will try to pull you in deeper and deeper. Thank god I got out and I cut all ties with each and everyone who ever hurted me.

Still when I see young Richard I care for him and I wonder what would have happened if he had different circumstances in his younger life. Maybe he would have become a great model or actor who knows.

The case with all criminals is that you should feel bad for the children they were . Not the adults they became . Because when you grow up, you can take control of your life and try to heal the child in you . We all went through thing some worst than the rest but it is no excuse for hurting others . You should feel bad for their victims. As a daughter, sister, wife and a mother I can only imagine the victims families feelings. R.I.P and prayers to every victim of violence and their loved ones even the living ones.

im always fascinated by ramirez. he is such a kid when it comes to his philosophy, but we may never understand it, since we never felt the pain that he felt when he grew up. what's scary about him was that he was attacking senselessly and randomly. Netflix should've done a series about him, rather than Jeffrey Dahmer. Dahmer eats people, sure. but ramirez is the deterioration of a man, and instead of looking for salvation or an escape from this despondent state of mind, he instead inflicts his pain on others, since his childhood told him to do this.
