Hey Max! Forget the "Doom & Gloom Release Date of 2024" that u just projected. Just reflect back as to how Bad and Way-Off your buddies release dates for the M3 MacBook Pro Laptops were. If one would bet on those guys at the race track or in Vegas, they'd loose millions of bucks. Orange Works Inc. of Silicon Valley needs to make all the cash they can so they can unload the Vision X-Boo Goggle-Moguls on the Unsuspecting as Soon As Possible at the Multi Dollar Price of $$$$$$. 😎😎

An m3 ultra being 2 combined m3 max chips will just be so insane . Almost 200 billion transistors , no other chip on the planet that I know of would even come close to that.

Yeah they aint beating a 4090 lolol. They M2 Max cant even beat a 4060ti.

I would like to see how the benchmarks of the M3 MAX compares to PCs in the same price range.

Now if Apple would only release a reasonably priced monitor without all the extra junk most people don't need.

Apple has a lot of stuff coming in 2024 including.....audio product refresh...new Minis....M3 iPads....first-gen Vision Pro...and hopefully an entry-level (super budget) MacBook. I think Apple needs to emphasize more Market Share gains (selling more machines running Mac OS) with a low cost 13" "MacBook GO". BTW, I believe we won't see any new Mac Pros past one final M3 Ultra version. Apple's philosophy is to leave socket/slot based modularity behind. Faster internal bus speeds and eliminating add-ons and "Modular-induced bottlenecks" will become the trend in Windows computing as well.

If the M3 Ultra has even more thermal headroom than the 16in MBP, it could in theory scale beyond 2x

I was quite interested in hearing pricing information so I was disappointed that you had no actual leak or other information on pricing, just your opinion and frankly I could see no basis for your opinion on the price.

The M3 Max MacBook Pros are dismayingly expensive, substantially more than there M1/M2 predecessors. Of course the M3 Max has substantially more cores than the older chips so this isn't completely surprising; but given this I don't know why so many people think the Mac Studio is going to remain at the same price point. I would be pleased if it does but I think this is just wishful thinking.

My guess: Mac Studio, M3 Max version, will be at least $2,200 base price and that's with the binned M3 Max; the version with full up 16 cores would probably be around $2,500. For the M3 Ultra version I guess you can double those prices. (I also have no basis for that guess but at least I am taking the price increase of the MacBook Pros into account.)

Naah, I believe it will be released in March 2023 as the M1 Ultra. The M2 Ultra was super delayed due to the 3nm chip shortage. Mark my words, we are getting the Mac Studio M3 Max & Ultra on March, and the MacBook Air M3 will be released as the previous ones on June-July.

At the company I work, they couldn't buy on time the M2 Ultra, but they have already scheduled a big ass purchase for the Mac Studio M3 Ultra, and the budget is for March. They couldn't refresh all the equipment they have and decided to buy the M3 Ultra instead.

So, it seems Apple might release the Mac Studio M3 in March 2023. BTW, that's the one I'm waiting for!!! Sold my desktop, and I'm using my MacBook Air M2 for everything, but I know that this Mac Studio M3 Max is what I need and will last at least 5 years... The Ultra is just too much for my workflow, lol.

I believe it will come out at the start of the spring, if not earlier than the MacBook Air and Mac Mini. Why? The performance difference in single core between the MacBook Pro and the Mac Studio/Pro is too big and sales will plummet knowing that the current M2 are a thing of the past. Also, the Studio and Pro sale numbers are so low that TSMC can easily afford their chip production.

One thing we all can agree on: Mac Studio and Pro M3 will get announced at the same time, because of M3 Ultra for both machines. But when? ALL new M chips has been announced on Special Events. 11 chips so far. So M3 Ultra will most likely get announced on a Special Event.

Vision Pro: Apple WILL make a Special Event. This is a totally new product that need much attention. Probably not a product for me personally, I will most likely not buy it. I need a Mac Studio, not a Vision Pro.

That "March Event" might be it for Vision Pro.

Apple really need to bring more power to Mac Pro ASAP. 192 GB RAM as max is a joke - for some of the targeted customers.

M2 Max/Ultra was almost not an upgrade at all, only a RAM upgrade. A small CPU/GPU boost but that was not impressive. What some customers need is more RAM, not a faster CPU/GPU. Some customers need 256 GB or even more. 192 GB is not enough. 192 is better than 128 (M1 Ultra) but yeah, this is more important than bringing M3 to MBA and Mac Mini. Mac Mini actually got M2 Pro which is pretty good.

Also there would be very few people who will upgrade from M2 to M3

Unless it's priced better, a Threadripper 5000+ might be a better bet.

The problem with holding out another 6 months on Studio/Pro with M3 is sales of M2 Studio/Pro. I can't imagine anyone in the market for one of these machines putting money down now with M3 6 months away. Releasing the high end machines/chips last is a bit weird IMO.

I am waiting for M3 desktop models to arrive before making a purchase for my teenaged son. Of course he is interested in games as well as game development, and 3D modeling, so the graphics improvements in the M3 look great. We will see if they keep the same value pricing on the M3 Max Studio that they currently have on the M2 Max. I kinda wish Apple would make a value variant of the M3 that had all the GPU cores and a minimum of the CPU cores so they could market it to the people that are strongly motivated by gaming. I don’t really know how “binning” works for the chips that don’t pass, but if it were possible, I hope they aren’t just tossing out Max chips that have all working GPUs but only a handful (like 8) working CPU cores. 🤔

I've seen zero evidence that the previous Ultras were not monolithic. The Max chips have simply been cut up Ultras.

Im assuming its because it gets more views, but why is there always so much focus on these Max/Ultras? Common people, me included, arent buying these things...

I agree with the specualtion of the release date. I've heard several people say that they firmly believe Apple is going to get back to a yearly release date on all of their products like they were doing. This would make sense in having the Ultra chip being released in the summer before they then got ready to release the A18 & M4 line of chips again in the fall season.

Guys, I know you need to release all of these performance and analysis and rumor videos fast. But you really need to have someone proof them before uploading. Every one of the M3-series laptop performance / analysis videos has had at least one error in the charts you flash on screen. Usually it's reversing the M3 [Pro / Max] and M2 / M1 scores for the just-run test. But here in this video you say in your script how you expect Cinebench scores over 24,000, but the chart has only slightly higher than the M2 Ultra number on the M3 Ultra bar.

Anyone who is skimming your videos to just find the charts without hearing your audio (something I sometimes do) is going to come to some VERY wrong conclusions about these new systems when they find those errors and don't realize they're errors.

Apple will eventually bring out a 5th tear maybe for their tower system called “extreme” similar to Intels I3, I5, I7, I9 and Xeon structure.

I’m trying to decide between the new iMac M3 or refurbished Mac Studio M1 Max.
I’m upgrading from an i7 iMac 21.5”
I will not have a monitor, so that will be a cost factor.
What is your opinion?

The Mac Pro needs its own chip redesigned to allow it to be more expandable and modular. Otherwise it’s just a waste of space
