Now I feel better. Never liked operas.
ОтветитьIsn’t can-can by Offenbach
ОтветитьI knew Beethoven, I feel sophisticated now.
ОтветитьI felt really proud of myself because I got the first 2 composers. Then they started with the opera…
ОтветитьThe rules of the quiz dictate that one person is the captain and it is the CAPTAIN alone who can respond to the adjudicator. This allows the team to confer before deciding on what response to give. They don't just shout out because if they get it wrong, they don't just NOT get a point for their team, but LOSE their team 15 points. I recommend watching a whole quiz to understand exactly how hard it is. The music questions are not hard, I know them all here, and I don't have a music degree, but some of the others are insanely difficult!
ОтветитьThis quiz is very hard....the student who bells in and does not know the answer, doesn't just NOT get a point for his team, but LOSES the team 15 points!!!
ОтветитьI'd like to see a video of these guys reacting to the classical music segments from the show jeopardy, because the music doesn't match the composer, at all ever. the years are wrong in the categories on that show and the contestants rarely get the pronunciation right. exception being, Ken Jennings.
ОтветитьThese category of questions belong on a final exam for a BFA or MFA in Music History or someone that works as a librarian at a Music School or the Curator of a Music Museum. That said I got 4 of the questions correct.
ОтветитьEddy: i love de bussy
Ответитьme, a science student, getting salty that I don't know any of these questions: "lets quiz musicians in math and science, see how well they know"😤
ОтветитьGetting Beethoven is not impressive. Even I know that one, and I know next to nothing about classical music. Beethoven's seventh symphony -- especially the second movement -- is also one of the most famous piece of classical music out there.
ОтветитьRackmaninoff? British pronunciation.
ОтветитьThe guys weren't a whole lot better informed than the students. Kind of surprising.
ОтветитьThis video is so good! ❤🎉❤🎉
ОтветитьWhoo Hoo! Got three right!!! That was sooo hard. I howled out loud at the host's reactions - dyin'! "That was the 6th Symphony by Beethoven. Ptui! I speet on you!" hahaha. I'm recommending this one to my musical/musician friends right now! Wonderful! You guys are terrific! Shhhh. People are trying to sleep :)
ОтветитьSo… I watched this whole video thinking they were music students and I was horrified.
ОтветитьWhy are you two so oblivious (choosing the more polite term here) of opera? It's part of music too, and it does have an orchestra as well. "Meco all'altar di Venere" (With me, at Venus's altar"), Pollione's aria from Bellini's "Norma" is a very well-known and very popular piece. "Norma" is not anything obscure and avant-garde, like a recently discovered hidden gem: it's standard repertoire! So is "Là ci darem la mano", the duet between Don Giovanni and Zerlina from Mozart's "Don Giovanni".
I understand each of us specializes in something, for instance I don't know much about symphonies because I don't like symphonic music that much, but I still I do know about 10-12 well-known ones (at least their most iconic parts).
Okay, I understand that you probably don't like vocal music, that's why. And everyone is entitled to like some things less than others.
They are highly cultivated for non-musicians. You can’t even imagine the level in France. Young people don’t know who. Young people don’t know who Ravel or Debussy is when they are French. They just say to themselves: classical music is boring. Very sad.
Ответитьsacrilegious is being replaced by lamentable
ОтветитьGood morning.
I win with Stravinsky:)
And Beethoven I know . He's favourite composer

Stop talking over the music !!!
ОтветитьI would change the title as: 'Do twosetviolin know classical music?'
ОтветитьI only got two.. :'(
ОтветитьImagine waking up at 12 am to your neighbour screaming "my MAAANNNNNNN"
Ответить60 years and not too much longer :(
ОтветитьHow do you recommend one build up their hearing for classical music?
ОтветитьConcerning the fact, that he is mocking the candidates, he should mock his authors indeed for calling Offenbach a bavarian born composer. Lamentable. 😄
ОтветитьThe other gent is answering because he's the team captain
ОтветитьSometimes University Challenge contestants give remarkable answers to classical music, but often their ridiculous answers make me laugh.
ОтветитьUndergrad in classical piano here. Only one I didn't get was the Weber, but my question is, why did they keep guessing Delibes?! Delibes, who is literally known for like one piece which is for two sopranos.
ОтветитьPetition to make TwoSet learn about opera!!
ОтветитьTwoset played the first Rach piece in the recent music battle, it's really really amazing 😍
ОтветитьBritish gameshows are something else, aren't they? While USA is all "heeey, r u smarter than a 5th graderrr?", Britain be like "are you smarter than a post doc in art on our most famous university?".
Ответитьgood ol' university challenge
Ответитьpoulenc is actually pronounced poo lank (like sank)
ОтветитьLol lamentable 😂
ОтветитьEine Kall ist Importante
ОтветитьI couldn't believe it took these guys that long to identify Beethoven's 7th, second movement.
ОтветитьWhen they no longer know what the song is, but they still remember the fingerings 😅
I will never be that good at any instrument.
Guys, being amazing violinists and you don't know the master of romantic opera melody Vincenzo Bellini!!! Chopin was amazed by his compositions, this lack of knowledge is a big weakness, some of the most beautiful melodies ever written are from operas! Haendel, Mozart, Beethoven,Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Mascagni, Ponchielli, Bizet ecc..ecc... It's a world you can't overlook!
Ответить1 is clearly rach paganini theme
