The jesus and santa line is more about it both being fairytales. One of their albums is literally called "Opium for the masses", which is a Marx quote about religion.
Ответитьnot the statue of liberty that's justitia roman godess of justice
ОтветитьNice reaction! Check out Raise Your Voice, a Bad Religion song with Campino, singer of the Toten Hosen, as guest vocalist! 🤘
Ответить❤from germay. Punk/Metalhead/Antifa 🤘🤘
ОтветитьAs others pointed out: It's biting sarcasm. Describing a fairy tale then stating THIS will be the time when making a wish eventually gets us somewhere.
Ending on: This will be the resurrection of the Holy Spirit and of Santa Claus as well.
As in: All of that is BS. A raised middle finger to everyone putting words before action. (And they surely were not serious about Jesus in the beginning, sorry)
Everything in the lyrics is covert denial but paired with the up-tempo, high spirited music - it's bitter but you want to jump around to it. I love it.
41 years now , born in germany! Remeber 10 years old quick before school on our mtv 😂, 5min late but i don t care
ОтветитьThe song was written in the time after east and west germany became one country again after it was splitted for many years. In its origin the song should be critical about the politics of germanys cancellor at that time, Helmut Kohl, who talked about "flourishing landscapes", east germany would become at one day. Earlier east germany was a communist dictatorship before it became a democratic country, while the unity. Helmut Kohl followed a conservative, neo-liberal politic way to grow up east germany. As a left punk band Die Toten Hosen questioned that way with this song, meaning Helmut Kohl doesn't REALLY care about (poor) people in east germany. The whole lyrics, saying everything can be possible if you just believe enough in it, should be just a metaphor with deep irony, relying to Helmut Kohl's way.
Later on, the singer of the band talked about, that a lot of people saw a hope hymn in this song, which wasn't the originial idea about it. He said, this interpretation would be also okay for him.
Your German was amazing! Well done!
ОтветитьThis song is quiet ironic, by exaggerating their wishes they point out that they don’t believe in realistic changes of this world.
Ответитьwünsch ir was
ОтветитьDon't pronounce the German "die" like the english "die", the "ie" is pronounced like the "e's" in "the Bart, the" as spoken by Sideshow Bob.
ОтветитьIt's an admirable trait of them that they never sing discriminating songs but for equality and Positivity. They're Punks for Peace, you could say.
ОтветитьWow, their were soo young at this time. Don't know, if Campino would nowadays say the same. Hopefully he doesnt loose his hope, but ...🤔
Who knows, difficult times.
Thanks for diving into genius german music 😎
Als die Toten Hosen noch richtige Punks waren! Leider auch vorbei...
ОтветитьYou have to react to more of the Hosen or the Ärzte, both my favourite Rock bands (Ärzte a bit more)
ОтветитьThe time is coming
When wishing helps again
The time is coming
When wishing helps again
When wishing helps again
When wishing helps again
Make a wish
Make a wish
Make a wish
I believe that the world will change again
And then good will triumph over evil
That someone will guide us on our paths
And takes our fate into their hands
Yes, I believe in eternity
And that everyone forgives everyone
Everyone becomes equal in front of each other again
Everyone gets what they deserve
I believe that humanity will one day live in peace
And then there will be true friendship
And the planet of love will be Earth
And the sun will revolve around us
That will be the time
When wishing will help again
That will be the time
When wishing will help again
When wishing will help again
It will be too good
To be true
Have faith one last time
The here and now will be long gone
Like an old bad dream
It will be a great victory for justice
For decency and morality
It will be the resurrection of the Holy Spirit
And that of Santa Claus
The time is coming
When wishing will help again
The time is coming
When wishing will help again
When wishing helps again
The time is coming
When wishing helps again
The time is coming
When wishing helps again
When wishing helps again
When wishing helps again
Make a wish
Make a wish
Make a wish
Make a wish
Make a wish
Absolute outstanding analysing of the lyrics!
ОтветитьFun fact about the song is that he was at the time when he was written an answer to the government was in our then chancellor Helmut Kohl who promised us a country flows into the milk and honey which of course he did not keep.. after all, this song is about the fact that if you only believe in it firmly enough, everything is possible and it thus criticises the attitude of Helmut Kohl...
ОтветитьI recommend you "Die Ärzte - Die Banane live (English subtitles)" ...a rather serious song. ;-)
ОтветитьFor me the most pewerful song from the "death trousers" is "Sehnsucht".
ОтветитьI recommend Pushed Again by them ;) Its a tiemless song and very actuakl right now sadly again. Its also in english and a little more rock
ОтветитьMore from Die Toten Hosen! They're around since more than 40 years, and they have a huge list of great songs with very deep lyrics (and also some very ridiculous nonsense stuff).
ОтветитьGreetings and Love from Germany again 💚. Awesome reaction as always. I love die Toten Hosen. Sadwise i haven't found your first Hosen reaction. I have seen your Die Ärzte reaction. Wich Was great too. Have a peaceful day, you beautyful people ❤
