Chainsaw Bog Down - very frustrating! This video shows you some reasons and remedies, but more than anything else it gives you a firm understanding of what is happening inside the carburetor for this to happen. So if you have any of the popular brands such husqvarna chainsaw (such as the husqvarna 440, husqvarna 120 mark ii, or any other petrol gasoline powered saw), the Stihl Mini Chainsaw, Stihl Saw, Stihl MS 250, or any budget petrol chainsaw, then you will find some great advice here to help on the way. Bring the power back to your Power Chainsaw.

This principle works for most types of Chainsaw saws, and the following also helps with Chainsaw maintenance. So, whether you are using a Stihl Chainsaw, Husquvarna Chainsaw, basically, all types of Petrol Chainsaw are valid for this principle, as well as many types of or a 2 Stroke Engine. The Electric Chainsaw, of course, escapes this whole principle!

If, by the way, you are having problems with your Chainsaw Not Starting, then please do take look at my other video, where I help you get back you and running again if your Chainsaw Won't Start, or your Chainsaw Won't Stay Running. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM4twlv9VOg&t=9s

If you need a easy to follow video on Chainsaw Carb Tuning. So here I take you step by step should the Chainsaw Carburetor Adjustment be required: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=74p9FLmIkkw&t=47s

Here is a detailed instructional presentation type video of mine explaining the meat and bones principle of why a Chainsaw Bogs Down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SshXK8Ehm74&t=1982s

Many thanks indeed

Hello Craig , this is one of the best vids on this subject , I have a small tip for you & all who see this , to clean the spark arrestor mesh on the exhaust you can soak it briefly in brown vinegar , this eats the carbon off , but keep your eye on it as leaving it in there too long risks getting the mesh eaten away also !
I have a question for you , I have a very old Stihl 075 saw that just bogs out & dies every time I try to start it , real animal of an old thing , I have put new carb diaphragms on but no change , can you please go into more depth as to how to use the compression tester gauge to diagnose blown or old worn out crankshaft seals , as I think they have gone hard with age & no longer seal , but I would like to prove it to myself before stripping the whole saw down to get access to these seals . Many Thanks in advance .

Hey, i was under the impression that the high screw controlled the amount of fuel through the main jet, is this wrong?

Thank you for the thorough and complete walk through. I am an auto mechanic but I never really knew about 2 cycle motors or what problems exactly I am looking for with my chainsaw. This gives me pretty much all I ever needed to know.

VERY Thorough coverage of basically every possible cause of bogging down. Also, good tips on what to look for as the cause. Possibly daunting but hey - go for it and turn into Sherlock Holmes and find the problem!! Thanks for your efforts!!!

Ive never been able to adjust the carb myself. Read instructions do it by the book. Never. Made a living with them for 18 years. Ill just replace carb. Or now run the fuel injection. Lighter less finicky more reliable.
