How Good Is Windows Mixed Reality Controller Tracking? - Windows MR Controller Review

The tracking is ok it's not good but it's not horrible, worth it as a first step in vr especially for super budget people, got a headset for 75 bucks and have had a good run with it for about a year, but will upgrade to a quest 2 as soon as Cambria comes out and they are cheaper on the used market

So I'm wondering what the hell all that price tag difference with the Index, what's that money for?

I have it and if I have my controller in front of it it lostes tracking every 10 secs for like 3 secs then comes back then out

WMR is getting more popular, and Inside out tracking is now used on the Rift and the vive too.
VR game will be developed in a way so that they work with inside out tracking from now on.

So I just picked up a Reverb, is it just me or are the controllers a tad bit jittery? like, if I'm aiming, I find that they're quite a bit shaky. Is it just me and my setup? is there an option to turn on a bit of damping? Also, I've noticed that the predictive out of sight is good for only about 2 seconds out of frame/sight? is it better/longer for you? is this possibly due to interference? I am about 5 feet from my 2.4/5.0ghz wifi router, so I'm wondering if its possible that they are receiving interference? Is there any way to confirm this without moving my router and/or computer? I'm also tempted in the future to possibly get a knuckles setup, is there an easy way to do that? I already have 1 base station.

If everyone has so much success with this inside out tracking, why are so many people down on the technology?

Man I just bought my second Odyssey plus and I love the damn resolution but those mixed reality controllers are terrible. I hate that you cannot use them in the dark or you'll lose tracking! I'm always having an issue with the right controller lighting up and the left one connecting, but not tracking. It stays dim. Any ideas or had that issue?

I have a windows mixed reality dell visor + controllers. In my opinion I give it 4.5/5 stars.

Pros:
Easy setup
Not much required except usb 3.0 port and HDMI Port
Adjustable headband
Between lightweight

Cons:
Idk if it’s anyone else’s visor but it’s a little blurry.
Tracking. Controller tracking is a bit good and bad.
Heat: your dell visor sort of heats up causing some sweat but if you don’t mind then ignore this.

This is what I experienced so far not much. But if your on a budget and want to buy something to get into vr this is a good headset. There is little to none light leak.

Of course the tracking won't be as good as Oculus or Vive. However, for under $300 and for the fact that you don't need external cameras, I'd say it's still impressive and is good enough for most VR experiences.

They do not work fine for me. In fact, they are terrible.

The tracking on my controllers are really glitchy. when i turn them on, sometimes one of the controllers work but then glitch out and dissapear.

So I just got my MR set today and the controllers worked for about maybe 2 hours and now won’t follow my movements...any tips to help me fix them?

I've had my Lenovo Explorer WMR with its controllers for almost a year. My controllers have been beat up quite a bit. Now my controllers shake a lot lately even though Im not moving
. Might be my Bluetooth adapter or my lighting. Anyone know how to fix it or reduce the shaking?

my time using was TERRIBLE for vr chat at least... sadly it's the only game i wanted

Finally someone who doesn't bash MR and acts like the tracking makes it unplayable. I'm just curious did they improve tracking on the odyssey+ or via updates or is it still the same now after one year? Nice content and you have my sub.

I would even say in games like Racket fury the not so comfortable WMR controller feels more relastistic because a real Table Tennis Racket isnt any ergonomic.

I know this is old but just watching it. The rift with two trackers I believe is just as good as the odyssey if not better if you use them in a diagonal pattern with one in from and the other behind. I ran this for a long time and I did get a 3rd sensor just to make sure but it didn't really add a lot. I agree if you use them both in front of you though. Just bought a Lenovo explorer as a cheap second vr for co op play based on comfort or trying all them on and your reviews. Keep up the good videos.

I really hope Microsoft is going to make better controllers to combat Vives knuckles controllers... Why would they not.... They can let other company's combat for the contract to design and mass produce them and Microsoft can then market them as WMR gen2 controllers.

Also dont know why they designed the sensors in the dead center of the headsets and two.... They should of added 2 more on the sides that see's the controllers from the sides and also to the back, like wtf.... 2 more sensors would not cost that much, $10 more? if any at all.....

Hey Sebastian, I am currently watching your channel and you seem to know your stuff since I am new to this channel, but I am a rep for MR on the HP headset and I am constantly losing tracking in my right controller and I can not figure out why. After watching your video and seeing how good it works with the Lenovo makes me wonder if it depends on the system. I am also using an omen hp laptop with an i7 processor to demo for people and I am always losing track in the controllers. Do you have any suggestions why I am losing signal? Great video by the way.

Oculus should sell a camera set that clips on the front of the Rift. That coupled with a few cameras point in would be a tremendous upgrade. Honestly, i wish Oculus would release an Upgraded HMD with much higher res panels and the same inside out tracking as Windows MR. Make it compatible with the existing Touch controllers and you have a winner on your hands.

Seems like you'd have to go out of your way to make it fail.

When using my WMR headset I find my hand controllers can get stuck mid air or not respond to movements, for example; when I play Arizona sunshine, there is a bit where I need to hold a flash light, but when I pull it to close or slightly out of my POV It stops tracking... it happens with other games as well.
If you or anyone knows why or how to fix the issue I would be forever grateful :)
