How a Pro Player ABUSES the Draven Legend this Patch

FYI a hotfix nerf for Draven just went out! He's definitely still playable but we won't see this level of broken stuff happening anymore

this patch is competitive and rewarding solid play ONLY if you take the 1 good legend. As a flex poro player, it isn't rewarding at all though.

I think tft normally rewards good tempo in general anyways, and that was always my playstyle, but this draven augment is just degenerate.

As a note, I think the main cause of this degeneracy is the way 3 star 4 costs and 5 costs were balanced. They were overtuned on purpose with the understanding that noone would hit them in a reasonable game. If the draven meta continues, it would be fine and healthy as long as they nerf the 3 star 4/5 costs to just be slightly stronger versions of their base forms same as they do with 3 star units.

This just feels like peak tft, high tempo play the strongest board and hit what you hit. I enjoy it even if I can't force a safe top 4 comp anymore

i hate draven. i love draven.

This patch does feel good until people realized how powerful Draven is. While taking nothing away from Wasian in his game, it is completely undeniable you can get screwed over when you low roll your stage 2 or spoils of war drops. It could be the difference of not getting loot, or your opponents hitting econ break points but you don't. And since you're all playing the same augments, there's not a lot of room to catch back up if people hit their units earlier than you do.

for me it's not even about the meta being OP, it's just so boring to see 7 players with draven every lobby. out of 3 games I playeed since yesterday one was right after patch release so nobody was doing it, but the other 2 had all players but me using draven and going Azir 3, I got 3 firsts and beat 2 Azir 3s out of those 3 games. I'm still at diamond so that's probabbly why I'm still getting firsts this easily but it's so boring seeing every single player do the same strategy in a game that should reward inventivity and flexible choice making. So because of that I really hope they b patch this soon.

For anyone that wants to know how you can beat a capped Azir 3 board one time I did with Rek'sai 3 titanic determination, 6 bruisers, 3 void, kai'sa and Rek'Sai with carry intens and Sej with tank itens. And second time was Attrox 2, Gwen 2 with 4 Slayer, Ryze and Senna for support, Attrox ang Gwen with carry itens and Shen with tank itens. Positioning is important, you want Azir hitting your tank while carries clear the board, and with Gwen you want her close to Azir so she can jump and chunk him or outright kill if you get lucky. Legend is just Poro for me.

My friends still doesnt know the power of Draven, so I decided to 3 star Gwen two games in a row, NG though.

I dont care what the meta slaves are doing: Im picking Poro, flexing and playing strongest board until my very last fight 🫡

I agree, the patch is really good. I DO think draven legend is a bit overstated and ive done fine running 3 others legends. It's nice not to see so many lose streakers and people actually just playing strongest board. I also think zeri was a bit overnerfed but think aph was hit fine. The good news, zeri 3 is now open and if you do run a successful draven early game, you will have the gold to 3 star it, just know it is pretty 'eh' at 2. With the rolling for days(which isnt draven exclusive) aug i really feel you hit the point of finding the uncontested line. Somethings open and will get you a very strong cap. I figured the rubberband would happen, too many tfs waiting on perfect items? Eventually changes/mentalities would change to punish those tfs for holding more and more. This is basic tft, its a good patch with probs a tiny bit of adjustment needed(as usual).

Then again, I truly think too many no brain it and copy what they see. Draven feels great, maybe too great, but there are many ways to make sure you dont give dravens farm and can have a stronger early game. 100% agree were back to playing "good tft". The only issue is dravens feeding dravens. Great patch/breakdown/take.
