Something people may forget, this is Starfleet ships 30yrs AFTER the Dominion war, the amount of punch on that ships gotta be enormous.

Going to be bs honest, this dialogue is pretty rough shod for startrek standards, and Riker is being very unprofessional, even by his own standard from TNG. This is dumb

i love that over the years they kept riker consistent. all that cowboy attitude of kirk while clearly showing the effect that picard has had on him. definitely one of the best star trek characters ever and he deserves his own series

Riker has still got it! He nailed this scene!

A different timeline and this would have been called "The Battle of Gulion IV." With the number ships and at such close range, the carnage would have been massive. Also, the name of the ship that Riker commanded, The Zheng He, is apropos.

This scene is a perfect condensation of what's the problem with new Trek :(

Just an awful first two seasons

That’s looks like a brain dead military strategy. All floating in a huddle like medieval peasants at a battle.

Makes you realize how reasonable Commander Tomalak on TNG was compared to other Romulans.

Picard: "We will escort your ship to the neutral zone."

Tomalak: "That is acceptable."

Riker should've just opened fire, I mean it would be entertaining to see the romulan traitors get their ass waxed, polished and gift wrapped and handed to them on a silver platter :D

Picard arrives to negotiate a protection treaty, the romulans send the entire tal shiar fleet, starfleet's reaction? send not just one, but an entire fleet of heavy battleships commanded by a guy that wants nothing more than to kick ass and take names that doesn't negotiate.

i wonder what kind of time space rift would have formed had they all opened fire...i mean 1 fed starship and 4 warbirds was enough localized energy to open a rift 22 years into the future.....

The nostalgia I feel here, I remember making sure I was always home in time to watch TNG.

How has Riker not made Admiral himself by that age? Do Starfleet only promote you to Admiral once you reach the grand old age of 90 or something?

Old star trek stories are cool but i love the high tech modern futurism of this one. True it will get out of date in 20 years but im keeping my happiness right now.

That was one space battle I was hoping would happen. Just to see who would win. Bummed it didn't happen.

Remember when Starfleet struggled to produce one combat heavy ship? Now they have a whole fleet of them.
