What's 5k 2k mean - is this quality OK instead of the Studio Display for professional work if most of your work is just drafting documents and zoom calls? lol

If i record 4k video at 60fps with HDR and soon possibly 8k and 60fps (currently all on a S23 ULTRA) ...but ive just bought a 16 inch M2 Macbook Pro... Will this monitor still be a good purchace for me or should I find an ultra wide monitor running at higher hertz / fps ? :..the M2 MacBook Pro and whichever monitor i go for will purely be used just for video editing...and photo editing ...it wont be used for games... Please assist as I really dont know which ultra wide monitor to go for. Many thanks - Martin.

You should never unbox a monitor like this if you don't want to damage the panel. Always assemble the leg first and then after clicking it into place take it out holding the leg, not the panel.

I need this in OLED with 120hz, hdmi 2.1 and two usb-c ports. LG, get on it!

I wish they made this in black or grey the least.

I believe this is the ideal size/ resolution for productivity and gaming, beyond this you start to get diminishing returns. What we need next is an OLED version with high refresh rate and a graphic card that can get a descent frame rates at such resolution.

This is something I wish LG would enable on this monitor: have an option to keep audio playing on monitor speakers while headphones are plugged in. That way I can connect the headphone out to a subwoofer that I would keep under my desk. Ideally they would have a dedicated sub out or support for wireless Sub but It seems no manufacture will do that as they want to sell their sound bars instead.

is there any 144hz variant of this yet?

Hello. In comparison to 38 -> How about text size in most apps on 5k2k. Do you usually have to zoom in, or scale ? Is the text microscopic unless you find a way to zoom in ?

Have u tried PBP where the gaming console is 75% and the mac/pc is 25%, instead of 50/50?

Your monitor riser is causing you to unergonimically look up. The top of your monitor should be a similar height to your eyes.

60hz refresh = garbage far as I'm concerned... enjoy your flicker.

Nice review. Debating this one. You don't care about the lower refresh rate? My video friends told me don't mess with this one, get 120 hz or better. I do design for IT networks, so some vector images, but no video. Except for some gopro stuff I do for fun.

(well, duh! obviously, stupid me - mac books are meant to be used at McD, while at a table on a bar stool, while laptops are for poor people who can't even afford a desk at home 🤷😆)

I bought the slightly older 5k2k flat model, and I think i made the right choice. this version doesn't have the thunderbolt passthrough, but it's the same resolution, and doesn't have an LG logo at the bottom of the display, and the bottom bezel is actually just ever so slightly larger, giving the perception of an equal bezel all the way around. After having a curved tv for a few years now, I think i prefer the panel being flat. Getting this version for $600 didn't suck either 🤣

Thanks for a great review. I had the dell 49" 5K2K using a MacBook Pro and it was a disaster, you could not even get the 5K res on a MacBook Pro, it was like looking at an old cat monitor. It would have been great for you to compare the viewing resolution/experience to the LG 27" 5K as I would have found that interesting to note what was the viewing degradation having 5K over a 40" monitor vs 27".
