Thanks for the intro, good points!
ОтветитьThank you very much for sharing this video. I watched it to gain insights on how I can support our rural health organization in Uganda, 'Hands of Mercy Buwaya,' in launching an organic farm. I found the video to be very informative and helpful.
ОтветитьGreat video, very helpful. Perhaps the best tip of this video is the Swear Jar. That cash really adds up. A tidy nest egg in just a year.
ОтветитьInsightful. Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat information. Some day when we retire i hope to farm for fun. Again thank for your insights.
ОтветитьNo!!! What happens is, if you rent land and become successful then that ups the property value so you will pay more for the land when the owner sees how much you need it. Buy your land first people! This is coming from a real estate investor who has literally charged double for land after I saw how much the farmers needed my land after they leased it for a few years!
ОтветитьWhat I often miss in these kinds of videos is to find buyers. Especially where I live, in Europe, it's not allowed to just sell food to local restaurants, at farmers markets, etc, as you have no food safety certification. You can get that, but it's really hard and expensive. If you want to do that, you'll have to find restaurants who are okay with buying their ingredients illegally, which is a risk for them. And selling to bigger parties is completely out of the question.
Selling in a road side stand is permitted as long as it clearly is just a hobby and you're not selling large amounts.
So I don't see how it is possible to start a small backyard farm. For everything you produce you need to find more or less illegal buyers, which is really hard. I know one couple who sells potatoes that way, but it mostly means selling door to door as they can't sell at farmers markets.
I would like to see more videos on how to solve that problem.
ive been trying to rent or lease land for it for 6 years now im nearly to the point i will be able to buy land before i find a place to rent
ОтветитьI LOVE the swear jar line on the farm budget lol
ОтветитьThat's way, farm is my side jobs.
ОтветитьYou: "...by growing microgreens -- LEGAL ones"
Me: "...what would be an illegal one?"
*google searches "marijuana microgreen" *
You taught me something new today, lol! Who knew that was a thing.
Thanks
Ответитьthe collaboration thing is an eye-opener for me...blessings
ОтветитьThanks for the video!
Ответитьi like your video
ОтветитьI'm 23 atm in Ireland been wrecked with thinking how I'll make the next steps into owning a home oneday in our crazy market atm. But i have to say this video helped ground me. Most or all of these steps can be translated into the home buying process and how to supplement it, or at least i was able to make useful comparisons.
ОтветитьIt's very important for everyone
ОтветитьQuestion: If you wanted to farm, but have no experience, can you hire a expert to create and run your farm for you?
ОтветитьI'm doing this.
ОтветитьGreat video. Thank you for the info!
ОтветитьThanks! Excellent, easy to understand, down to earth advice and links to plenty of help.
ОтветитьThanks for such informative videos.
Ответитьspreasdshet doesnt work, thnx for sharing al the info
ОтветитьYour eyes are very pretty. Will start my farm soon this year and I enjoy watching your vids
ОтветитьFantastic information! My 2 points from years working in the ag industry are: 1. Test your soil for heavy metals! Since documentation of previous land use can be a bit hard to find and leaded gas was used into the early 90s in some states ( think road runoff for decades...), the not so great surprise of lead in your soil is NOT something you want to deal with. My soil tested at the EPA limit for root crops in the area immediately around my house which was built three decades before the lead paint ban. That test result drastically altered where my orchard and beds will be, but I would much rather know what I am dealing with than moving forward with toxic soil. 2. Work on making the comparisons between your farm and others healthy instead of falling into grief about your journey. A farm may be doing really well, but you may not know that unlike yourself the owners inherited their land, equipment, and infrastructure. I am not slighting those people in any way, but the difference in necessary investment from day one may be WAY different. Be gentle with yourself and your growth.
ОтветитьI am looking at a few acres here and there. One area I am looking at get a lot of small town street run off during rains IE dog do do, and who knows what else. I was thinking a backhoe dug deep hole with gravel back fill would help directly under the main runoff area. Nice little spot. 3 acres in a tropical area sounds fun. I have learned a lot on our small home lot. Hobby farmer would be me.
ОтветитьGotta love a video that begins with "Hey nerds"! 😂 I'm just starting to plan out a no-till garden for my new property and Jesse's videos are so detailed compared to other farm/ homestead vloggers. We're thinking in the future possibly selling value-added products. Much appreciated from the Lake Champlain area of N.Y.
Ответитьvery nice and amazing facts on starting a small farm, thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьEveryone seems to always get perfectly level land in these vids
ОтветитьLegal ones 😂 lol . I like this guy.
ОтветитьI have the bad jokes part down...
ОтветитьWhat is the size of your organic farm ?
ОтветитьTHIS right here shows and PROVES there IS NO FOODS Shortages ANYWHERE On earth!!!!!!
And this video is a sobering real bottom line truth!
This is the polar opposite than click bait! Awesome video Jesse!
Ответить😊
Ответитьi want one job agriculture
ОтветитьWhat about life stock?
ОтветитьThe use of crude tools and how to get viable seeds is my problem
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьSeems interesting, I wanted to start a farm next year, but I guess instead of that I think I should just become an apprentice first, I am fortunate in this scenario, because I have enough capital to survive without income for some time
ОтветитьIndeed a nerd🤓
ОтветитьJust earned a new subscriber for the BS full of info video.
ОтветитьI’ve been gardening for about 5 years and always used pots. This year I decided to build my mother in law our dream garden. It came out absolutely beautiful and it makes me so happy knowing the hard work I put in paid off. We now have 2 in ground vegetable/fruit gardens now and a nice flower garden for companion planting. It opened my eyes to how much I truly enjoy gardening and there’s not much I don’t know or haven’t grown already. We had an insane harvest and it’s still going strong for things like peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, squash, etc…. It’s really making me question buying land and turning the whole thing into a farm. That would truly be a dream come true to start with my family. If anyone has any tips on starting it would be greatly appreciate.
Ответить❤😂thats wht i need
ОтветитьTatoos? The drought here in Namibia is so unkwowing.
