@zeltik the seal kinda reminds me of the seal used on "the imprisoned" in skyward sword.

I haven’t seen anyone notice that the deli tree like roots all over the depths raise to the surface extremely close to every single chasm in the game. More to investigate or theorise there perhaps?

I think I solved the LoZ timeline and the placement of BotW and TotK

I have two theories that both I think make sense when BotW and TotK have references to every timeline and supposedly combined all 3.

First idea is that there are only two timelines. The child timeline is the only timeline where link lives (and the other adult timeline was erased when Zelda sent him back) . The adult timeline games are attached onto the end of the child timeline games (say Ganon came back at an unspecified time and the world was flooded not necessarily after ocarina of time). In this case, eventually Hylians made their way back to the original Hyrule from new Hyrule once the sea evaporated. That’s how we can have references to then 3 timelines as the bulk of the references are from the child and adult and the ones that allude to fallen can be explained away as their not that specific. Once they come back, Rauru and Sonia find Hyrule and totk and botw happen.

The only thing that I was Hung up on though is the tunics- how could the tunic of awakening and the tunic of the hero be there if they’re fallen timeline games.
No matter how I looked at it all 3 timelines were present and couldn’t be explained away.

So my second idea is that, instead of BOTW coming after every game In a unified timeline, it actually is the second game of the timeline (and that is why they’re combined)

Skyward sword happened, Rauru and Sonia find Hyrule and the TotK Ganondorf is the first incarnation of demise is that Ganondorf. BOTW AND TOTK follow Skyward Sword and are succeeded by the minish cap and the timeline split. The tunics are in the depth as that was Hylias way of assigning heroes to different clothes. She knew link (the hero of memories not the hero of the wild because his tunic in TotK is called the tunic of memories) would collect them from the depths and bring them up and the eh would eventually make their way to every link assuming that the tunic of the wind is every toon and four swords link outfit, and the tunic of awakening is the hero of legends and the hero from A Link Between Worlds Tunic. Ganondorf is defeated in TotK and shows up later in OoT (Vaati is the demise curse incarnation in the meantime).

Everything is in BotW and TotK because it happens before everything (besides Skyward Sword obviously) not at the end of the timeline like everyone thinks

y'know what? i am SO glad to have this interpretation. it means that the age of calamity timeline isn't doomed to also have to face the demon king. they'd probably win, at least, which is good, but zelda avoided a century long battle in that timeline, she doesn't need to then spend several millennia as a dragon anyway

If Rauru was indeed winning in the struggle against Ganondorf, and had the Calamity not disrupted the seal, I wonder what implications that could have for Age of Calamity, wherein Hyrule survives as you said. I know that currently AoC isn’t canon, but that’s just one interview question away from changing

I love this game The Ending is AMAZING. BUT. Sky islands were just big puzzles or just land. No cities or a Skyloft memories. I thought this game was supposed to be linked somehow to Skyward SWORD? Another lie. The temples sucked besides the Lightning Temple. I'm kinda annoyed how they went with this style for dungeons. Not understanding the fans. They literally said dungeons are ood school with their own astehtic of their environment. That was a half truth because the Dungeons barely had any enemies like the old games. They were just a big puzzle u can cheese with Ascend. So I'd rather have a more linear, hard, filled with enemies, dungeons with puzzles. Also I loved the Depths then I didn't because alot of it was empty. ALSO how the hell do some ppl in this hyrule forget who Link is?

just out of curiosity, why did nobody go back to the chamber and just take ganon's secret stone and slit his throat while he was immobilised? Is there a better reason than something like they didn't want to disturb him? Also the incorporation of the music in this video is really effective. I like it.

I know that the lore and mysteries of TotK are less plentiful than BotW, but I still love these videos. Again, I know that you and the other Zelda lore videos might not be able to produce as much as you all did in previous years, but it's still amazing to watch these videos and piece together stuff that most of us missed during our playthroughs. Like MonsterMaze's video on the purification unit was so incredibly cool, and seeing this connection with it was awesome.

(I know its not canon) But in theory on the Age of calamity timeline thanks to Terrako Rauru won the battle against Ganondorf wich in turn changed history as we know it since this Zelda didnt traveled back in time since the castle survived the calamity but then it all creates a paradox wich destroyed all they time lines
-The end
Great topic for a theory

the castle bit being an additional seal was interesting, but I think you missed a few details: Ganondorf said himself that Rauru couldn't Imprison him forever, that years would go by and he would one day break free. While Rauru himself knew he wouldn't hold forever, he didn't need to. due to shenanigans: a bootstrap paradox had occured and future knowledge had it that Rauru was Holding onto Ganondorf, until Link could become the destined foe for Ganondorf to fight. Rauru knew he couldn't Beat Ganondorf, so he waited for Link to finally arrive. the rest makes sense though.

His hatred seeps out every few generations to take on a new form. Building a body for itself to transfer Ganondorf into. It tried to with its own dark Shrine of Resurrection, using Sheikah tech as its base. We either interrupted the process or it was DOA and inhospitable for Ganondorf to be transferred into. The Dark Beast Ganon we fight in Hyrule Field was simply a solidified form of the spectral pig that swirled around the castle.
The best thing I could compare the Calamity to is a Stand from JoJo. A manifestation of Ganondorf’s soul working independently, instinctively, to fulfill its user’s desire for freedom and destruction.
It seems Ganondorf himself had no idea his power was leaking out this whole time. But that’s not really clear because the game itself is so obstinate in referring to the previous game. I get they want it to be a standalone story, but it’s a full on sequel, don’t be vague or hide references. But I digress.
The Secret Stone seems to have allowed Ganon to access the latent power of Demise. As evidenced by his Oni form heavily resembling Demise. Power on a level that had not been seen since Demise himself. The Triforce gave him the pig form and powerful magic, but he never seemed as strong as he does in these games. When Demise was the Imprisoned, that dark power would periodically be released, even in a lesser state than when he was the full demon king. History repeats itself with Dorf and this seal.
I personally don’t think there’s any reason to think of Malice and Gloom as separate things. The only reason they have different names is they introduced a game mechanic that wasn’t in the previous game. I think the Gloom is still Malice but now in its full power with Dorf’s unbinding. It was dangerous and corrupting before but now it thrives with darkness and affects the health of those who are near it. It also allows Dorf to summon Phantom Ganon across Hyrule. And it’s literally what he casts out of his body as magic.
Rauru’s seal may have kept Dorf in place, but it couldn’t hold all of him.

The sad part is that we can assume from the verbiage of Demise's curse that if his reincarnation is defeated by the ones bearing the blood of the goddess and the soul of the hero, that he will return again, making the cycle begin anew. This means that if Rauru succeeded in draining and purifying all of Ganondorf's magic he might have broken Demise's curse of hatred.

This interview has really solidified for me that gloom and malice are not directly connected. We assumed gloom was a more concentrated form of malice, but seeing that the seal wasn’t disturbed until after the calamity I’ve come to believe that malice emerged, and calamity Ganon was “born” more so out of desperation. As you point out, Raru was starting to win. Ganondorf was decaying. Botw mentions the demon king attempting to reincarnate, and indeed it seems the calamity was trying in a very haphazard way to create a new vessel for ganondorfs soul to inhabit. Essentially create a loophole for him to escape the seal. Was he doing this consciously? Based on the boar imagery and bestial nature of the calamity, I see it more so as a manifestation of his subconscious or “dreaming mind” doing what it could in the state it was trapped in.

Something I've been curious about and haven't seen around online is the origins of the dragons naydra, farosh, and dinraal since we now know how dragons are made. Who or what were they before? Are those 3 dragons different then the light dragon in their creation or would they have been a sentient person before

Was it kind of dumb to anyone else that all the myth and legend surrounding the first king and the theoretical demon king was outright explained in a tablet at the bottom of one of the staircases in hyrule castle? It really isn't that low in the castle. You'd think someone would have stumbled across that cornerstone at some point, and all the myth and legend about the first king and the demon king would have been considered a lot more than a legend.

Is it possible that this is the same Ganondorf from OoT , just that it's a different outcome? As though child Zelda from OoT had not been made aware of Ganondorf. So instead of going to the King about it, he already knew to be wary of him. Then the events of TotK play out as we see with the king, Rauru, sealing himself and Ganondorf for millenia. If it's a new timeline that's created from this, it would explain BotW having so many call backs to games across every timeline without the need for a convergent or inevitable timeline.
