Hey Heimler, thanks so much for this series, It's really helpful for me because I'm self-studying for the AP exam this spring and these videos are the perfect resource.

At the end of the video, you said that the Buddhist rulers "added Buddhist statuary without destroying the Hindu elements."

That's just to illustrate the idea of syncretism, right? Because it's just not true. Sure, there was a lot of the temple preserved, and it was more syncretic than not, but still, a LOT of the temple's imagery was either destroyed or more likely, redone (in far inferior quality).

Some study materials say Hinduism was popular among SEA elites cuz it justified their hierarchical power while Buddhism remained popular among commoners because it was more equal, even as it came to SEA. Although monks were seen as the only ones who had a chance to go to Nirvana, regular people were still more involved in daily practices and festivities more so than Hinduism in SEA, hence why Hinduism in SEA was limited to temples built by elites. Is this fair to say?

The Sinhalese played a huge part in that region for the past 2500yrs... At the time of 1200's "Polonnaruva" was our capital and some of their rulers had marriage alliances with surrounding states like chola, pandya, khemer, bagan, kalinga, ayuthya, champa, mon etc.....

Hi Steve! AP Teacher that works primarily with multilingual learners. Adobe Premiere has an auto caption feature now that can create subtitles files to include with your videos. Subtitles are huge for my multilingual students. I'd be happy to either show you/your team how to do this or I can help by creating the subtitles files for you. Woo-hoo!!! New AP World History video!

Last year my AP Gov teacher (my future AP World teacher) said that he thinks Heimler wanting us milking brain our cows is a strange thing to do. Heimler was a whole phenomenon last year lmao. My school works on a block schedule, 4 classes a semester, another four the second semester. But finishing AP gov in December and taking the test in May was scary.

Heimler triggered all my AP Gov knowledge in May and when I took that test, it was a breeze.

So I thank Heimler for my 5.
