I Bought a Gaming PC at Best Buy… Am I Dumb?

Me watching this after buying a gaming laptop from Best Buy:

Just ordered the amd 5600x with 3060 version on sale for 900 open box and when it arrives im gonna swap into a deepcooler case with vengeance dual 16 ram. So exited!!

I bought my 1st prebuilt from best buy, I typically build my own, but on pc part picker I could not build that prebuild for that cheap. I got a 13th gen i7 a 4070 32gb of ddr 5 for 1800$ water cooled and a hyte y40 case. It is amazing. I did buy a legion pc 1st and that blue screened 7 times before I could get through the out of box exp. I returned it and got this ibuypower and it has been so good.

I found a pc from Best Buy for $799.99 that has an i5 12400F and an RTX 3050.

Rip out the internal components and put them into a better case, increase the ram(if possible), upgrade to a better GPU down the line(depending on compatibility), and for the love of god check the CPU cooler for the 'remove before installation' sticker. I made the mistake of not doing that last bit when I bought a prebuilt a few years ago(my first gaming pc ever), and the CPU died in about two months because the dumbass who assembled the PC didn't remove the fucking sticker and I was too ignorant to check.

I got this computer from walmart for like 500 bucks and ive put it in a corsair 4000d and put in vengence pro and betttter cooling, she runs like a champ, maybe overspent but i learned my lesson and now have a good ass xomputer that can run games at 60 fps minimum, normally get 120 on high, mine also doesnt have a gtx it has an asus pheonix 3050 in it

best buy actually has some pretty good deals especially if you get refurbished

I really want a pc, I have lived my whole life without one and I have only ever had mobile devices for making calls, my family definitely did not see PCs as a priority because we are seriously financially struggling right now, my parents split up not too long ago and it made everything worse, I do not have a lot of entertainment, but I am happy with it, I am lucky to at least have wifi. Life is seriously tough right now and I would not mind having one of these, I just want to play pc games because lots of games aren’t mobile compatible. I am not even kidding, the only thing keeping me from ending everything is God.

I bought my prebuild from electronics express for around 1000 with tax and I got a 3060, an intel core i5 (10th or 11th gen) and 16 gbs of ram and 1 TB of ssd, not bad electronics express

I got a cyberpowerpc through bestbuy with a gigabyte eagle oc rtx 3070 and i7-12700KF for only 1,400$. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Got it about 6 months ago.

God that's a pathetic looking prebuilt. The price isn't the worst in the world but when Asus is the manufacturer they can surely do better than this.

Idk if I’m using my pcs wrong but whenever I buy a pc from Best Buy it always breaks somehow, sometimes the windows is installed wrong, the drivers are corrupted or some parts in the pc aren’t correctly inserted. Sometimes it’ll work fine for a week or two but then some problems surface. Idk if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s Best Buy’s fault

I have a 8+ YO pc that I bought at Best Buy (Cyberpower PC), and it actually has lasted very well so far, yeah, nowdays it has its limitations, but I haven't changed most of it since then; new SSD, a new graphic card (original burnt out after 5 years) and a new fan, and I'm quite happy with her, I'm looking forward to update her later this year (just, hold a little longer my old friend).

If your shopping for a good prebuilt, look at Build Pro PC. I had a great experience with them, and im super pleased with my PC.

I can attest to Best buy struggling to have enough staff. They barely alive a big box retailer of electronics. I take full advantage of their annual membership though. The free tv mounting can easily be shared with friends and family. The warranty is rock solid and saved my ass multiple times when electronics failed. The sales rep definitely knew how to take advantage of the best buy loop holes. I did the same thing. I bought one laptop a monthish before black Friday, then the deals hit and I returned it and got a different laptop with a significant discount. Then the price dropped again and I got an even better deal all because I have their membership. I think this is also why BestBuy continues to rip their perks program to shreds because there are multiple power users taking full advantage of their system

so if i want to buy a prebuilt desktop for gaming and possibly streaming what should i get if my budget is around 1500?

I have no skills in terms of building a pc and i was considering taking it to Best Buy for their hardware installation service and having them build it for me. After reading some comments about how poorly trained they are, i think its safe to say ive changed my mind. Going to be watching more videos on building it at home, thanks for this video Linus and crew!

One time I bought a pc for 1999 after one week it was 1500. I contacted the support from the store and told them this is ridiculous and they actually refund me 499 on my original payment method. So there is still hope

I’ve had my 2070 super and i79700f pre built for years from I buy power. It still can run the games that I like to play at max settings and can do some pretty great ray tracing. I have no regrets from buying it at Best Buy.

When I bought a cyberpower PC from best buy in 2018 it was even better than this and it 700

Bought a pc from bestbuy for $3865 CAD had a i913900kf and rtx 4070Ti and 32 gb

I only bought a gaming PC from Best Buy because 1, I am absolutely terrible at building my own PC, and 2, the first PC I bought online was an HP Pavilion. When I tried upgrading that, the parts I got from ASUS were not compatible because it would only work with Intel or HP parts, and it broke when I tried removing some bloatware it came with.

Utterly broke down and decided 'screw it,' and got one from Best Buy. $1000, and it wasn't the best at first, but now that I've upgraded the GPU, gave it a new core, and added some more RAM, I think it's a nice little gaming PC I have going on. But, then again, I'm utterly clueless when it comes to understanding good PC components and parts, and trying to decide on when/what/how to upgrade stuff from places that don't sell you great parts to begin with.

I bought 2 pre builds over 11 years both were excellent.
