I have just finished watching this spectacular series on prime video. This was my frist 10 episode series i have ever watched on prime video.
And after Watching it, i want to say this is absolutely mind blowing masterpiece made by the makers in which every character like Ashley thomas, deborah ayorinde, jeremiah birkett & christopher heyerdahl and others have played absolutely remarkable role.
I have completed these 10 episodes in 4 days and i have thoroughly enjoyed this. I want to see 2nd season as well i hope it would come soon.

I'm a white girl so I don't understand the cultural context. Why are hot combs used? Does it have something to do with straightening the hair, and if so, was it because of societal pressure? Because nobody should be pressured into modifying their natural body. All hair and bodies are beautiful.

I watvhed the first season on prime and loved it

That “Do I look pretty now, Mama?” Is still going on to this day. Us straightening and damaging our hair to look like people that hate us.

Truth is getting your hair hot combed was just that intense and scary. Especially near your ears, and the back of your neck.

I really want to watch this right now

I loved this show when it first came out and I might watch it all over again , this is something everyone should watch !
