Mixing in a small venue is quite a challenge with spill from the amps and monitors on the stage (don't bother recording the FOH because half the instruments aren't in that mix!).

Slap-back echo off the far wall is painful - it's impossible to try to overcome that with power. Smart bands don't fight the timing of it - time to drag out your rockabilly songs! 😂

It prob wouldnt be a bad gig to find a club that needs a sound guy like every weekend so you just go to the same place all the time

Best description between live and studio mixing that I heard is, with studio mixing the room is the constant factor and the tracks are the variable. (you mix the tracks to the room) When live mixing, the music is the constant factor and the venue is the variable. (you mix the room to the music)
A whole different approach 😊

Thats how i used to eq my bass amp it had a nice 10 band equalizer
